[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Manuel Luiz and Isabel Pinheiro Ribeira Grande
Pam, I have a Manuel Correia de Aguiar m. to Maria Fernandes. They are parents of my ancestor Antonio Correia born in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, on 2 jun 1712. Antonio had a sister named Barbara born in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, on 5 jun 1709, and a daughter also named Barbara (my ancestor) born on 1735 in SC-Lagoa, whose daughter Mariana Francisca married to Martinho Botelho in São Roque on 1785. I couldn´t find the marriage record for Manuel Correia de Aguiar and Maria Fernandes in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, around 1708 or before. So I think that this Manuel Correia de Aguiar could possibly be the son of your couple Manuel Correia de Aguiar and Barbara Luiz (or Pinheiro) married in Ponta Delgada with children born in São Roque. I noticed that Barbara is a recurring given name in the family. Did you find any Manuel born to Manuel Correia de Aguiar and Barbara Luiz (Pinheiro) in São Roque around 1680-85? [AZORES-Genealogy] Possible discrespancy is Baptismmal Records - Flamengos, Faial 1781-1804
While searching through Baptismal records of Flamengos, Faial this afternoon I think I have found a discrepancy in the record for 1781-1804. At the end of the book the year is 1793, which Pam Santos confirmed for me. Although is supposed to (according to the CCA) end at 1804. The next book does begin with 1804. From what I can tell there is a ten (10) year gap. How would someone report this to the CCA? And as luck (or I my bad luck) the period I need is in the missing block of records.. When I have a discrepancy, I check the Family History Library Catalog (FHLC) to see what was filmed: http://goo.gl/HfRAvQ It says that in Flamengos, for baptisms, they filmed 1661-1720, 1728-1804, and 1804-1892. There's a gap between 1720-1728. Joao C. Ventura confirmed they are out of order. Sometimes when books were rebound, the loose pages were put at the back of the book. At least the vast majority of our pages are in order. If you ever look at the Cape Verdean film, they are all over the place. You'd think that the book had loose pages, they threw them up in the air and then filmed. [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: mtDNA haplogroup H
Beth R, You need to ask your project admin(s) about your matches. If you are in Haplogroup H, you need to ask Rebecka Canady and if you are in the Adoptees, you need to ask Dick Hill, CeCe Moore, or any other admin that assists with the adoptees. In mtDNA, haplogroup H is the most common haplogroup in Europe. I can't remember the statistic. Around 33% to 40%?? It's A LOT. So you will have lots and lots of genetic cousins. The matching for mtDNA has recently been updated. For people with a paper trail to a common ancestor, a mismatch of one base pair is allowed, so they are showing these on your matches page. It's really only applicable to those who tested the Full Genomic Sequence or Full Sequence Test or Full Mitochondrial Sequence test. The lower level tests are usually anthropological in nature. As for help with adoption, you really need to talk to CeCe or Dick. Their email addys are listed when you click on your link for the Adoptees Project.
