[AZORES-Genealogy] Baptismal Rec. interpretation - Ribeiras, Pico - Jose - 14 Apr 1743

2016-01-18 Thread Kawika322
I think that this may be the baptismal record for one of my ancestors I am
looking for, but am not sure. Based on the marriage record of Jose with his
wife Maria de Encarnacao from Ribeira Seca Sao Jorge, his parents are
listed as Joao Luis Goulart and Luiza Silveira from Ribeiras, Pico. Does
this baptismal record look like it could be the correct one? It looks like
the father Joao Luis is a native of the Island of ??

Record is on bottom left:

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/PIC-LJ-RIBEIRAS-B-1732-1749/PIC-LJ-RIBEIRAS-B-1732-1749_item1/P87.html

Also, here is the marriage record of Jose Silveira Luis and Maria
Encarnacao from Ribeira Seca, Sao Jorge, giving the parents names.

Record is on left side of page:

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-RIBEIRASECA-C-1764-1803/SJR-CH-RIBEIRASECA-C-1764-1803_item1/P27.html

Thanks,

 David

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Faial the Island or Faial da Terra, Sao Miguel?

2016-01-18 Thread Manoel Cesar
Here's what I have in my notes. I hope you can read portuguese:

. Bárbara, b. 12.7.1609 - CCA #88. Filha de Manuel Roiz (sic)* e Maria
Luiz.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Faial the Island or Faial da Terra, Sao Miguel?

2016-01-18 Thread mances
Júlio,

Miguel da Rocha and Bárbara Roiz are my ancestors too.
I descend from their daughter Maria de Faria who married Matias Pereira in
São Pedro, Ribeira Grande, on 3 jul 1666. Matias was from Rabo de Peixe.

I have a lot of ancestors in Ribeira Grande living in the late 1500s and
early 1600s.

Thanks for all that information, Manuel and Julio. And thank you for the
children's baptisms Sandra!

Does anyone know if this the same Manuel Faria that married Beatriz da
Silva in RSSP, May 13- 1598. He was also viuvo of unnamed spouse and she is
filha de Ambrosio de Fontes and Maria da Silva, all natives or residents of
RSSP.

It's Faial da Terra, even though the priest didn't write it out. You're in
1603, and paper and ink weren't exactly in abundance. And as someone said
earlier, they would state "ilha da Faial" for "island of Faial" if someone came
from there.

I would say the island of Faial, becausa i don't know anyone that reffers

I would say Faial da Terra on Sao Miguel, it does not say Ilha with Faial

Manoel Faria and Maria Luis married 7 Jan 1603 in R. Seca, R. Grande. It
says Manoel was nal. ? ? Faial. Is this Sao Miguel or the Isalnd. Top left.
