So now it looks like Living DNA did away with the indemnify clause and now
it's more of a use at your own risk. Roberta Estes wrote about the update

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Living DNA - A new DNA company

2017-06-15 Thread 'Lisa' via Azores Genealogy
I purchased one of their kits (for myself) at Jamboree. I read the article
yesterday and it does raise concerns. However, I only want to test with them
for clues on my U.K. origins which go back to 1700's. I don't plan to download
data (I can do that from FTDNA). My takeaway from the article was to beware of
downloading/sharing information from them and the origins data is evolving
(exactly what they said at Jamboree) and to be used as clues. To be fair to
them, they said repeatedly that their German data is weak at this time and they
are working on improving that (Portuguese too, when I asked).

Repost for "Google User" dea.jo.scribe at gmail.com

My family is Vieira and they are from Pico

My great great Grandfathers name was Frank and he had ten children. I know
there was a Rosa and a Manuel somewhere in there.

Where did the family end up?

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Living DNA - A new DNA company

2017-06-15 Thread Margaret Vicente
Cheri,

I disagree with the tone of this article. Living DNA is providing its users
with a deterrent because I find most of us are oblivious of future consequences
and merrily go about sharing our DNA key foolishly.

The question it raises for me is this. Would I give any stranger the key to my
door? We all know the answer to that, then why such carelessness with one's
DNA? Yes it is fun, but what monster are we creating for our future generations
by being so inconsequent today?

Best wishes,

Margaret Vicente
