I know George Pacheco tried to start one up a few years ago too. I really
enjoyed chat groups (ran them for many years), but I think they have had
their hey-day. It's worth a try to see if they can have a revival and Eric
is providing a means. Good luck, Cheri

[AZORES-Genealogy] Portuguese Genealogy Conference and Research Trip: Deadline is May 24 (one month)

2019-04-24 Thread Cheri Mello
(Cross posted to Azores, Madeira, and IslandRoutes lists)

We are now 1 month away from our deadline and 2 months away from the
conference!

If you have been entertaining thoughts of coming with us to Salt Lake City,
NOW is the time to book your hotel, make your plane reservation, and fill
out the conference from.

1) The host hotel is the Salt Lake Plaza 1-(800)-366-3684. We are group
13171 or you can say you are with the Azores group (they find that easier
to spell than Portuguese). If you have points at another hotel, or you use
the KOA campground, or stay with relatives, that's OK too. (You'll need a
car rental).

2) Call your favorite airline or use you favorite online booking service
(Expedia, Kayak, Travelocity, etc). Or use your travel points!

3) Print page 6 of the Registration and mail off your money. The
registration can be found here: https://t2m.io/YfiGdr8C

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night have 2.5 hours of one-on-one or
consultation time. Friday has about 5 hours. For those that are still there
on Saturday, Rosemarie and I are there part of the day and will be on the
same floor (International Floor or Basement 1).

Looking forward to meeting many of you in Salt Lake City in 2 months!

I'm reading the mom and grandma as Luzia Maria Maia and Anna Maria Maia. I
first thought he wrote Maria twice (after Luzia's name), but he did it again
after Anna Maria's name. I think he put Maia after it.

2019-04-24 Thread nancy jean baptiste
Thanks Cheri.

Roselyn, thank you so much. You confirmed that this isn't who I thought it was
because of the birth date. The odds of 2 Anna Maria's having 2 daughter's named
Luiza Mariana who had 2 daughter's named Mariana Amelia, all with unknown
father's in a small village like Bandeiras seems improbableI'm thinking
maybe this record is a sister to the Mariana Amelia da Silva that I'm searching
for. I appreciate your help!

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Record help. Bandeiras, Pico

2019-04-24 Thread Cheri Mello
Hi Nancy Jean,

The link is missing.
1) Go up to your address bar (where the https://www.blahblahblah is) and
click it. The URL turns blue (at least in Firefox and Chrome).
2) If you are Menu kind of gal, then RIGHT click the blue highlight and
pick Copy. If you are a Keyboard kind of gal, do Ctrl+C (for copy).
3) Go back to this email. If you are the Menu type, RIGHT click in the
email body and pick Paste. If you are the Keyboard type, click in the body
and do Ctrl+V (V is paste).

That's all there is to it.

Sidenote on Cut, Copy, and Paste: Look at your keyboard on the bottom row.
See how the X, C, and V are next to each other? The X is Cut. Think of
scissors when you open them - they make and X shape. The C is Copy. The V
is Paste. Think of taking your thumb and pasting a sticker onto your paper.
You're going to press it down, in the direction the V is pointing.

I'm sure there's videos on how to Copy and Paste on YouTube.
