[AZORES-Genealogy] Side bar help! Pedro Miguel

2019-05-02 Thread 'Susan Vargas Murphy' via Azores Genealogy
Hi Everyone,

I have been going over some research that i did long ago and wondered if
the experts here could take a look at the side bar on this baptism record
for Grinaldo on the right page middle record. I do not need help with
reading the record itself.but the side bar, which is very faded.

This is the thing. This family had a ton of children.14 at
least.this Grinaldo is never heard from again...no marriage or
death..

Then they had a Jose and I could never find his baptism record.Jose
marries to Francisca Jacinta in Pedro Miguel, Faial.on 27 May 1759
He dies 26 Sept 1781

Looking at the side bar of Grinaldo's baptism, it looks like the name
Joseph is there and maybe even a reference to Francisca Jacinta?? I just
wondered if there is anything there that might say that Grinaldo might have
ended up being called Jose?

Thanks!

Susan Vargas Murphy

Ps...Cheri, I am looking at these records again because they are my
ancestors and ALSO Jerome Silveira's:)

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: DNA question

2017-02-26 Thread 'Susan Vargas Murphy' via Azores Genealogy
On your note about linking people Cheri.I know you will be posting a
video about this. I just wanted to ask you about the fact that I got two
emails today saying in one that I was added to their family tree and in
another, that my brother was addedbut I have no clue who did the
linking. I looked at my pedigree chart and cannot see whoever it was that
added me and my brother. There was a link on the email but it did not work.
Will we be able to know who links us? And I am not sure if this is good or
not.if everyone is right, that is great, but if they are not right,
then it reminds me of all the errors on Ancestry.com and why i have never
posted a tree there. So who will see these links...only the person who
links them, or anyone who looks at their pedigree??
Interesting!!

You need to upload a Gedcom and start linking people. I suggest you get
everyone back 10 - 12 generations and make sure it includes everyone coming
forward (so your 3rd, 4th, 5th cousins are in your tree). Upload that and
start linking. I'm making a video on it. I've been busy the last 10 days
and hope to get to it this weekend.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Santa Maria "Recordacao" postcards

2016-11-04 Thread 'Susan Vargas Murphy' via Azores Genealogy
Hello.I am sifting through the belongings of a relative who passed away
this year and trying to find homes for some items. I found a little
accordion fold out of small black and white scenes of Santa Maria. They are
only about wallet size pictures. There are ten scenes. My relative visited
here I think back i the 1960's so this would date from then.
I will send them to the first person who emails me at uberlin...@aol.com
and sends me their mailing address. I don't have any Santa Maria ancestry
and hate to give them to Good Will etc.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Manuel da Silva- help with margin notes on baptismal record

2016-07-11 Thread 'Susan Vargas Murphy' via Azores Genealogy
Hi Becky,
I was gone for when you posted this but saved it as I thought it rang a
bellyou probably know that he was the brother to your husband's
great-grandmother Luisa Emilia and my great-grandmother Anna Luisa. I
have these notes on him in my program which are family oral tradition (my
grandfather
's brother's daughter, who lived in the Azores told us this)
Manuel went to the United States and lived in the Oakland area. He and
his wife had four children. Manuel caught his wife in infidelity and went
to the Acores and never came back.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Naming of Expostos

2014-08-10 Thread 'Susan Vargas Murphy' via Azores Genealogy
I took a picture of one of these wheels when I was in Angra recently and it was
very interesting to see.quite different from how I had imagined it. I
always thought the wheel was flat like a wagon wheelhorizontal but it was
like a box more flush with the outside wall. I have no clue how to get that
picture from my iPhone to here as I tried to copy and paste it and that did not
workmaybe I need to transfer it to my computer? Anyway, I am obviously
technically challenged:) and will post if you can tell me how to do it;)
