Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Michael J. ENOS of Azore Islands, Portugal 🇵🇹 searching his real SURNAME
Your Michael is definitely the other Michael. My GGrandfather Michael J Enos named his son Michael J Enos, Jr. Once the 1900 rolled around there was a Michael in every family. Maybe we are fortunTE there was only two choices. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: ENOS/ENES VARGAS CONCORD, CA
It is a journey as I have finally found the link to my grandmother Enos, she was always called Emily but her legal name was Susan Emily one I plugged it in correctly all the information fell into place. My GG Grandfather Michael J. Enos was from the Azores, Portugal and arrived in 1885 to New Bedford area. If I am correct his legal name would be Miguel Jose Ignatio ? Ignatio when spoken with Portuguese dialect sounds exactly like ENOS. You can use google translate with speakers on, which was how I came to possibility of Ignatio. His fathers name was Joseph ( Jose) and his mother Frances (Francesca) this is my best guess anyway. Best Wishes- Kathie on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 12:11:41 AM UTC-4, E. [AZORES-Genealogy] Michael J. ENOS of Azore Islands, Portugal 🇵🇹 searching his real SURNAME
Looking for any information to link appropriate surname to Michael J. Enos Michael J. Enos b. 1863 Flores, Azores Islands Portugal d. 1920 New Bedford, Massachusetts Father Joseph Mother Frances Trade Sailor, later years Dock Worker The only records I have found are: Marriage to Flora Jackson, 26 March 1889, Record of death. and three Census reports with children's names and birth dates. Flora, daughter of Manuel and Mary Aurilla Jackson b. 1870, Manuel is on record with place of birth Azores Island, Portugal. Michael and Flora lived for many years on South Second St. New Bedford, Massachusetts, there is also a record of Hayward St. New Bedford, Massachusetts when family was younger (and smaller). I found one Michael Enos living as a boarder in his twenties and a record of a Frances in an institution, again not proof of relationship. My brother recalls the story that Michael came to the US when he was a young child, nor provable records. There are only two people with anglicized surnames of Michael Enos, both were born within years of each other. The other removed to California married to Constance Delfina.
