My Aunt Mary lived at 52 Ottawa. Her brother Anorio lived with her. Next
door to them at 50 lived Alice Pimental Gonsalves with her daughters
Darlene and Lindy. Alice's father was Fulgencio Pimental. The last time I
was back there was 1995. My aunt tied in 1998.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Great Grandparents

2017-02-16 Thread Cheryle Dougherty
Sorry noticed the spelling. Alice's family owned the house from at least
the 1930's. They had 15 kids in their family. My aunt and uncle went to
live with their godparents who were Hnorio and Lucinda Pacheco. My aunt
said she went to visit when she was young and wouldn't go home. She liked
it because there weren't any kids and she was treated like a princess. She
told me their children died in the Azores before they came to the US. My
uncle ended up there when he was a baby and never left.

2017-02-16 Thread Cheryle Dougherty
Thank you. My grandmother Francelina came over to the states to marry my
grandfather, Jose Joao Silva. He was from Cape Verde. She came over in
1909 and got married in Providence, RI. The two brothers I had for my
grandmother were Hnorio Pachaco and Evaristo P Averio. They both lived in
Attleborro, MA. They lived on Ottawa and Linden. My mom's brother was
Anorio. We called him Uncle Nautie. I think Hnorio is Henerio. The birth
year is about right. As far as I know the parents never came to the
states. I will load the gedcom to roots magic when I get it.
Thank you

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Great Grandparents

2017-02-12 Thread Richard Francis Pimentel
I gave you 5 children which span about 10 years of their marriage so there very
well could be more after Francilina. This Henerio could be one of the brothers
you are looking for. Not sure where you got the name Hnorio from but it could
be a miss- spelling.

Do you know what year they came to the US? I would suggest looking in the US
census for them which will give you a good year to start looking for their
birth. The US census is on line for free if you know where to look.

I can send you a GEDCOM which you can load into Roots magic. I will have some
time to work on it tomorrow.

Rick

I think the modern spelling is Honorio, but I'm not entirely certain.

RootsMagic is a decent program. The more you use it, the better you will

2017-02-07 Thread Cheri Mello
Cheryle,

Generally, it seems most people start to make connections from the 18teens
on back. But maybe you'll get lucky.

The Diocese for all of the Azores is Angra. Sometimes handwritten "n"s can
look like "u"s, but it's an "n."

The order from small to big: Ribeirinha, council of Ribeira Grande, island
of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal.

I got my Family Finder test today and plan to do it. I was told many years ago
by an Uncle that my
grandmother had 18 brothers and sisters. Today a cousin told me there were 20.
I always had though my uncle was misinformed but now I am not sure. I knew she
had 2 sisters and possibly 3
brothers but never thought her parents had 20 children. If this is so I guess I
have a lot of cousins somewhere. My g.grandparents lived in Candalaria, Sao
Miguel Island, Azores. I was told they go back to the 1500's on Sao Miguel.
Have not posted lately been busy with other things. Want to thank those in this
group who have helped me with info in the past. I know that my grandmother and
grandfather were born on Sao Miguel Island, Azores. Some of the surnames in my
family are Medeiros, Pereira, Perry, Araujo, Anjos, Soares, Cordeiro, Correia,
Enes or Ines ?
and Esteves. Thanks for the help I have gotten from this group. I am certainly
new at this research and not sure how well I will be able to do this research.
