Yes, you have the date and most of the names. Groom's mother is Maria Simoes (it looks like a "Y") but it's a "es." Weird, but you'll get used to that script. At the bottom it says everyone is from that church, so you should be able to find the baptisms there. Eric, you are doing really well! Manoel's Mom is Maria Simoes, the Priests sometimes make an "S" at the end of the word look like a "Y". The marriage of Manoel Marques and Barbara Goularte is top right: http://goo.gl/dUYQOt It looks like in the body they wrote the groom as Manoel Marques P^a and the bride as Barbara Goularte dOlivr^a. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with documents for Manoel Marquez Pereira (1747? -1821)
Unfortunately no luck so far ... I looked through all of the Topo marriage records, and couldn't find it ... many of them were in bad shape, so it's entirely possible that it's there, but just not legible. While looking through other records, though, I did find something that I would love all of your experienced eyes (bottom left of this one) ... http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-TOPO-B-1815-1828/SJR-CH-TOPO-B-1815-1828_item1/P140.html It shows this is the birth record of Manoel, a grandson (paternally) of Manoel Marquez Pereira and Barbora Goularte ... but I couldn't make out the names of the parents ... can someone help there? Thanks! - Eric On Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 12:14:36 PM UTC-7, Eric Souza wrote: > > OK, good tip, thank you! > > On Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11:56:22 AM UTC-7, Cheri Mello wrote: >> >> Yes, Manuel Marques Pereira died 26 June 1821 aged 74 more or less. >> >> Don't go looking for Manoel's baptism yet. [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with documents for Manoel Marquez Pereira (1747? -1821)
I was combing through the obits and found one for a 5th great-hgrandfather, Manoel Marquez Pereira ... http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-TOPO-O-1770-1826/SJR-CH-TOPO-O-1770-1826_item1/P290.html If I am reading this correctly, I think it says he died 26 Jun 1821 ... if he was 74 at death (I think?), that would mean he was born in 1747ish ... Since I don't have the records for who his parents were, I looked up the birth records for 1746 forward, and found one from (again, I think) 1 Jan 1748 (top right) ... wondering if someone could take a look and let me know if they think these match up? And can you help me identify the parents and if it says anything else? It looks like the mother would be Barbara Pereira, http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-TOPO-B-1742-1762/SJR-CH-TOPO-B-1742-1762_item1/P94.html Thank you!! - Eric -- For options, such as changing to List, Digest, Abridged, or No Mail (vacation) mode, log into your Google account and visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/Azores. Yes, Manuel Marques Pereira died 26 June 1821 aged 74 more or less. Don't go looking for Manoel's baptism yet. Go find his marriage to Barbara Goularte. That will give his parents' names and then you will be sure you have the right Manoel.
