Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Jose Pimentel, B Jan 2 1813, Ribeira Do Barqueiro Flores

2016-04-18 Thread luiznoia .
This seems the most likely match for the Sebastiao and Maria da Trindade in
the obito.

Lomba

José Sebastião Pimentel [26 anos, f.º de Sebastião José Pimentel e de
Maria da Trindade do Coração de Jesus] c. 1886.08.19 c. Maria
Gonçalves de Freitas [18 anos, f.ª de João António Gonçalves e de Isabel
da Trindade do Coração de Jesus].

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Jose Pimentel, B Jan 2 1813, Ribeira Do Barqueiro Flores

2016-04-17 Thread Mary Pimentel-Wheeler
Hi Eric. I really appreciate the help you've given me several times over the
years. Yeah, Sebastiao is my mystery-man, I just can't seem to find any
certainty in my Pimentel line beyond him. I've looked at the marriage book
(kindle version) till I'm cross eyed, but just can't find him or his parents.
If he was 79(ish) when he died, that would put his birth around 1813, so now
I'm going to start looking at the Santa Cruz baptismos and see if I find
anything around that time, +/- 10 years. Those particular records are pretty
hard to read, but who knows...maybe I'll find some clues. Wish me luck!

Thanks again,
Mary Pimentel-Wheeler

2016-04-17 Thread luiznoia .
Mary,

I have found researching Flores over the last twenty years that the
surnames are not always recorded the same way on all documents. The alcunha
part ( Queiro, Batacao, etc) is often left off some records.

The parents are sometimes recorded wrong also. Not surprising 70 or 80
years later , often in a a different town.

I looked at the obit record you referenced.
http://www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/FLR-LF-LOMBA-O-1891-1900/FLR-LF-LOMBA-O-1891-1900_item1/P21.html

26 Sep 1892 Lomba

Sebastiao Pimentel 79 yrs

widower of Maria da Trindade

legitimate son of Jose Pimentel Queiro and Sebastiana de Jesus

Looking through the Flores marriage book, I can not find any marriage for
those parents or for Sebastiao Pimentel and Maria da Trindade.

The place they reference is Ribeira dos Barqueiros, part of the parish of
the town of Santa Cruz

[AZORES-Genealogy] Jose Pimentel, B Jan 2 1813, Ribeira Do Barqueiro Flores

2016-04-15 Thread Mary Pimentel Wheeler
Hi friends - I found an article about Jose Pimentel on another board, but
it may be a clue to something I've been trying to sort out. I have a
mysterious "Sebastiao Jose Queiro Pimentel" (b ~1813, d 1892 Lomba, Flores)
in my tree, but have not found his birth or many others with the name
Quiero. I do know he died 1892 in Lomba, I have that Obito. Now I'm
wondering if he is somehow related to a Pimentel from Ribeira Do Bar*queiro*,
and that how Queiro became part of his name? Just a thought. I had not
previously searched the Frequesia of Santa Cruz believing my Sebastiao came
from the southern part of the island.

So the article lead me to Jose Pimentel, born 1813 in Ribeira Do Barqueiro,
Flores, and I "think" I've found his baptismo. Could someone help me with
the translation - it's one of those "hard to read" ones (ugh). I'm not
even sure I am in the right year on this one...

It's the 4th one down on the left page:

http://www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/FLR-SC-SANTACRUZ-B-1826-1841/FLR-SC-SANTACRUZ-B-1826-1841_item1/P123.html

I see:

Jose, son of Jose Manuel Pimentel ? and Maria ?

(are they from this frequesia or somewhere else?)

Paternos Antonio Jose Pimentel B?? and Maria ? Furtado?

Maternos ??? and Maria Freitas?

Padrinho Jose ?? and his wife Antonia Jose e Maria ??

Born..at this point I see a lot of numbers written out but can't make them
out, so I'm not sure what it is saying.

Thanks for any help you have time to give.
