I had an ancestor marry his mother-in-law. His wife died in childbirth, so
he needed someone to take care of the little ones. His mother-in-law was
widowed. Even though she was the children's grandmother, it would still be
considered inappropriate (for that time) for her to live in the house
without being married (Joao Ventura told me this). So he married his
mother-in-law so grandma could raise the kids.
