Well that's the pits! Monterey gave their Naturalization papers and Declarations of Intent to the Monterey Historical Society but at least they will let you come and search! Wow! I'm sorry that's truly stinky. It IS interesting though how every county has such a differrent situation. I.E. They do not have the books, this fellow who lives in Big Sur has the book that includes the 1940's (don't know how that happened) but he looked up my grandfather's brand and copied the page. The County Courthouse here says they don't have any of them! I've been there and asked. Wow, Jeremy, this is a great resource! I wish the guy who has the early cattle brand book for Monterey County would do the same! I have a one-page list where my Avo's brand is located but that's it. I wonderful to see the brand though and adds to the info on my grandparents.
