Does this mean “mercenary” or does it have some other meaning? Someone suggested that it means a soldier who serves for 8 years. Any ideas. [AZORES-Genealogy] Soldado Pago
Hi, Recently while searching baptism records on CCA for Flamengos in the early 1700s, I am seeing a lot of records showing the father's occupation as "soldado pago" which Google translates to paid soldier. Does this mean "mercenary" or does it have some other meaning? Someone suggested that it means a soldier who serves for 8 years. Any ideas.
