Sampaio is a surname. I knew a Sampaio family in Brazil and they said it was Portuguese. As I am going through the records, I notice they have different names than what I have seen on Sao Miguel, which is a nice change. It is not always Manuel, Maria, Anna etc But you would think with a name like Bertoleza Luis, I would be able to find her LOL no such luck, she must be in another church.
