[AZORES-Genealogy] Thanks!

2013-03-19 Thread Gail Elizares
I just want to say thank you very much. E I believe you were the one who
gave me a date of a possible Mary Dias that died on May 1, 1933. Well I
went on ancestry on that possible date which took me to find a grave. She
is buried at St. Mary's. I called them and they didn't have much info so I
ordered the death certificate and it is my Aunty and Uncle that I was
looking for.

I don't know why when I tried to order the death certificate within that
year, they said they couldn't come up with that name. Maybe I should get a
refund, LOL. Anyway they buried under the name Mary S. and Jose S. Deas,
but the death certificate says Dias.

Again thank you for solving another mystery for me!

Gail E.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Thanks!

2013-03-19 Thread E Sharp
Thank you, Gail. It always make me happy when listers are able to glean
more family info and can take their family research further back. I don't
know how they come up with some of these spellings but not too long ago I
also helped another girl with her Dyers family and putting 2 and 2 together
I figured it had to be Dias...go figure. She had a very successful search
finding living family members.

There are so many knowledgeable, very helpful people on this list and those
searching are very lucky. Don't be afraid to ask.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Thanks for your help on Azores trip

2009-01-17 Thread E Sharp

I want to thank everyone for their input on our trip to Europe,
specifically, the Azores. Have made all our hotel reservations.
Don't know if I will do any research or not while there but it will be
fun to see where my grandmother's family lived--I can't say came from
as they came from Naples and mainland Portugal although their children
were born in the Azores. Sometimes I am envious of those whose lines
go back many years in the Azores and mine go back to about 1850.

Find it interesting that to fly from Lisbon/Terceira/Ponta
Delgada/Lisbon the total fare is $915 and to fly from
London/Edinburgh/Dublin/London the total fare is $369! Have not made
the Azores flight reservations yet but I am guessing they are not
going to come down anytime soon.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Thanks Re: Linguicia and to CHERI

2008-11-02 Thread Charlene

The recipes look really good. I hope that my Church friend picks one
and lets me taste it! She is quite a garden planting, food storage,
dry herbs, onions, garlic, and all things that can be dehydrated. So
she is doing sausages and loves linguicia.

A big thanks to Michelle and Elaine, too, as well as Stan, if I did
not say before. It is nice that you all care enough to help out with
something as little as this, for me. Lots of recipes to choose from.

Mary Ann, I sent you email privately but will say again, hope that you
are feeling better. Thanks for checking in and following up even
though you are not 100% feeling okay.

Michelle, I am very sorry about your aunt and please accept my
sympathy as you go through her personal effects. That can be a mixed
blessing, and an honor all rolled in to one.

November is a time of being mindful of blessings and I am very
grateful for CHERI and all that she has done for this list and for the
many times she has helped me in family history related issues.

Charlene

[AZORES-Genealogy] Thanks for the bird identity

2008-09-07 Thread Laura Fitzpatrick
Nice to know it is a rooster. I'm not too good with bird identification! I have
several of them as they are painted so beautifully. I was in Sintra and a man
and woman selling carved Folk objects on the street were from the Azores. Many
of their objects were this rooster.

Thanks again for the info.
Laura
