Many of these genealogy software programs may be on sale. Download the free version and check their website. Subscribe to their newsletter (they will announce sales there). Family Tree Maker (FTM) will be supported for 1 more year and after that you will be on your own. I have been faithful to FTM, though I stopped upgrading at version 16 (2006). Having a considerable database (300 000 people and growing) it is hard to export it to another program.
