Gail, My family had 4 Maria's. All survived. One went by the name Emma in the US, the other 3 by Maria so it is highly possible your 2 Maria's survived. If you will send me what you have, thus far, after the first of the year, I will try to help you with US records and possibly Passportes. I cannot help you with Azorean records. The Azores GenWeb contains an article on Naming Traditions. It explains some of the naming practices and how a family can wind up with multiple Marias.
