[backstage] Does Wikipedia have a cash crisis? Could this be Another h2g2 moment?
Does Wikipedia have a cash crisis? OK. When h2g2 ran out of money, Auntie bought it up. Perhaps it would be a good use of BBC money to support Wikipedia, given they don't want adverts. All they want is bandwidth - perhaps the BBC could provide it. Wouldn't BBC Wikipedia put the Beeb to the top of the web 2.0 ladder? jimmy came and worked with us for two or three weeks back in 2004. nothing came of it, much to my shame. we had a good long look at ways of working together, but sadly we don't own our own bandwidth following the sale of BBC Technology to Siemans a couple of years ago. i think wikipedia will be fine...
