[backstage] Really impressed

Title: Really impressed

Really impressed with all the website feedback guys, it's really nice to get some constructive ideas rather than just picking problems with things! I think it shows the strength of the community we have here, and that's something I want to reflects in the website.

I'd like to tie up a few of your ideas and try to summarise them, before I start planning the design for the new site

* More accessible (to non technical people) but without loosing the depth of information needed in documentation. A non technical area where people can look at / comment on prototypes and ideas (also the ability to submit ideas).

* Better navigation / search - being able to search the feed list, the api list or even it's content - being able to find feeds and apis by category and the relevant documentation with ease

* Better design - overall, but also including graphical elements that you can use on your own sites and prototypes - perhaps a downloadable collection of graphics that you can use (including good quality BBC logos etc)

* A HOWTO on camping

* Easy ways to consume the important things like news and the blog, looking particularly at www, rss and mobile

* Documentation should be on a wiki

* Better separation between submission of ideas, and wanted feeds / apis

I can't promise all of this, but I'm going to work very hard to make sure the new site works as well as it possibly can.

Matthew

(not camping this weekend, it's too wet).

PS - You'll notice I've included my phone numbers in my sig now, please feel free to give me a call if you want to discuss anything. Perhaps not at 11pm but anytime during the day is normally good :-)

Cheers, thanks for that Richard! ;-)

Would you believe my wife is a journalist... She continually goes on
about my spelling... It also appears I can't use ' properly... Never
mind... Let's get this back on-topic before I get told off ;-)
