Yes, that will also keep some older fulls, the 4 @ 1 week would be
pretty much the same set as the backing fulls for the incrementals,
plus 2 @ 2 weeks, and 3 @ 4 weekly intervals.

Re: [BackupPC-users] host configuration

2014-11-24 Thread Fanny Alexandra Oyarzún Bórquez
If I understand my settings should be:

FullPeriod = 6.97
FullKeepCnt = 4, 2, 3
FullKeepCntMin = 1
FullAgeMax = 90
IncrPeriod = 0.97
IncrKeepCnt = 30
IncrKeepCntMin = 30
IncrAgeMax = 60

This way I can keep backups for 30 days and go rotating

Is it right?

You shouldn't think about full/incremental runs with backuppc in the
same way that you do with other systems because there is essentially
no difference in the space they consume and in either case, keeping
more copies will only take the additional space of the files that were
modified or deleted in that time.Also, when restoring, the
incrementals are 'filled' from the backing full so you don't have to
restore the full and then overlay the incremental.

If you want to keep a backup from every day for the last 30 days, just
set your IncrKeepCnt and IncrKeepCntMin to 30. The backing fulls you
need will automatically be retained until the matching incrementals
are expired.

[BackupPC-users] host configuration

2014-11-24 Thread Fanny Alexandra Oyarzún Bórquez
Hi!

I base my host configuration:

FullPeriod = 6.97
FullKeepCnt = 4, 2, 3
FullKeepCntMin = 1
FullAgeMax = 90
IncrPeriod = 0.97
IncrKeepCnt = 6
IncrKeepCntMin = 1
IncrAgeMax = 60

Which only allows me to keep the following enr espaldos:

Backup# Type Filled Level Start Date Duration/mins Age/days Server
Backup Path  0
  full
yes  0  10/22 16:40  0.5  32.8  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/0  7
  full
yes  0  10/30 08:50  0.1  25.1  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/7  11
  incr
no  1  11/4 09:30  0.0  20.1  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/11  12
  full
yes  0  11/4 17:22  0.1  19.7  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/12  13
  incr
no  1  11/4 17:31  0.1  19.7  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/13  14
  incr
no  1  11/8 01:30  0.2  16.4  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/14  15
  incr
no  1  11/9 01:30  0.2  15.4  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/15  16
  incr
no  1  11/20 11:54  0.1  4.0  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/16  17
  incr
no  1  11/24 11:01  0.1  0.0  /var/lib/BackupPC/pc/xx.xxx.xxx.xx/17

But I wish I could hold a higher amount of incremental backups, such as:

Retention of 30 days with 4 full and incremental backups others.

Regards

You must be able to ssh from the user account (backuppc) to the root
user of the target system without entering a password.

You should be in the backuppc user environment, i.e.:

normal_user: $ sudo su - backuppc
backuppc_user: $ ssh root@host

If this doesn't work you won't get any further with backuppc.

NOTE: you will need to accept the RSA key on attempt to SSH to the
remote box.
