looks like the reason if the fact that RunDir is missing from config.pk, even
the sample one doesn't have it, is it logic?

[BackupPC-users] backuppc 4 fails without any log

2021-08-28 Thread daggs
Greetings,

I've installed backuppc v4 on my rpi4 arch install, completed migration of all
hosts from v3 and I'm trying to start it up, after running systemctl start
backuppc, I get the below as status:
Aug 28 16:13:07 backupserver systemd[1]: Started BackupPC.
Aug 28 16:13:07 backupserver systemd[1]: backuppc.service: Main process exited,
code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Aug 28 16:13:07 backupserver systemd[1]: backuppc.service: Failed with result
'exit-code'.

I know the failure is inside of Main_Initialize(); but I cannot seem to find
and ligs.
ideas how to debug this?

Thanks,

Dagg

As with most Linux software, the best approach for most people will be
to install the packages built for your linux distribution so it will
stay updated with the rest of the system along with its dependencies.
And then the final configuration will depend somewhat on the package
and distribution defaults as well as your local clients.

Re: [BackupPC-users] Backuppc GUI and Debian 11 setup

2021-08-28 Thread Pascal Legrand

Hello,

may be for this reason found in the NEWS file of the tar.gz package:
http://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/main/b/backuppc/backuppc_4.4.0-3.debian.tar.xz

Debian's default BackupPC configuration file for Apache now restricts
access to BackupPC to localhost by default because by default HTTPS is
not enforced, i.e. "SSLRequireSSL" is commented out.

Please refer to the comments in /etc/backuppc/apache.conf
  respectively /etc/apache2/conf-available/backuppc.conf what to
uncomment and comment after having setup HTTPS, e.g. with certbot.

Hi all,

I just installed Backuppc 4.4.0-3 on Debian Bullseye (11) and, as
usual, am having trouble getting access to the graphical user
interface. This latest Debian package seems to automatically install
everything, out of the box, that is needed to run BPC but I can't
access the GUI.

For some reason no one ever gives clear instructions on how to access
the GUI. I've found this to be very frustrating. It's like in the
early days of application programming where they would tell you
everything about the program except how to terminate it. Could someone
please help me  with this problem?
