Re: [BackupPC-users] Incremental Errors

2009-11-19 Thread Heath Yob
Looks like I had 2 backuppc daemons running. So both daemons were
starting the backup at the same time and then they were tripping over
each other. I killed the second one and and restarted the daemon.
Looks like it's working again with no issues.

[BackupPC-users] Incremental Errors

2009-11-18 Thread Heath Yob

I'm getting an new error with my incremental.
It would seem when the incremental runs on it's own I sometimes get
the following error:
2009-11-18 16:00:00 incr backup started back to 2009-11-17 15:00:01
(backup #11) for share C$
2009-11-18 16:00:00 incr backup started back to 2009-11-17 15:00:01
(backup #11) for share C$
2009-11-18 16:04:51 Got fatal error during xfer (No backup directory /
var/lib/backuppc/pc/spangler-dc7900/new)
2009-11-18 16:04:51 incr backup 12 complete, 78 files, 1244034627
bytes, 1 xferErrs (0 bad files, 0 bad shares, 1 other)

2009-11-18 16:04:51 removing incr backup 5
2009-11-18 16:04:56 Backup aborted (No backup directory /var/lib/
backuppc/pc/spangler-dc7900/new)
If I run the incremental manually there are no errors and it runs just
fine. Anyone else run into this?

Thanks,

heath--

Excellent it looks that fixed it.

That's kinda lame you can't just change the TopDir.

Thanks for the help.

I've changed the TopDir to /CLIENTBACKUPS.

pc and cpool directories are in there now.

I'm getting a bunch of errors like this on my PC clients:
2009-11-10 13:26:55 BackupPC_link got error -4 when calling MakeFileLink

Does that /CLIENTBACKUPS directory mean that you've changed the

[BackupPC-users] Compression Issue

2009-11-09 Thread Heath Yob
It appears that I'm not getting any compression on my backups at least
with my Windows clients.
I think my mac clients are being compressed since it's actually
stating a compression level in the host summary.

I have the compression level set to 9.

I have the Compress::Zlib perl library installed.

ppo-backup:/home/heathy# perl -MCompress::Zlib -e "print \"Module
installed.\\n\";"
Module installed.

Is there a secret to SMB compression?

Heath

[BackupPC-users] Exclusions Round 2 - smb this time

2009-10-13 Thread Heath Yob
Since I got rsync to work with OSX/Linux clients, I've moved on to
windows clients.

I've gotten the backup piece to work via the C$ share. I've tried
excluding for now just .ini files. I've tried different variations
and they don't seem to exclude them. Am I missing something? I've
even tried a host specific override with a same result.

Here's the current config:

$Conf{BackupFilesExclude} = {
   '/Users' => [
 '*.mp3',
 '*.imapmbox'
   ],
   'C' => [
 '*.ini'
   ],
   '*' => [
 '*.ini'
   ],
   'C$' => [
 '*.ini'
   ]
};

Thanks,

Heath

Ok so I've updated stuff and things sorta work but not exactly how I
want.

The rsync exclude works but the exclusion list still doesn't work.

Exclusion list now looks like:

$Conf{BackupFilesExclude} = {
   '*' => [
 '*/*.mp3'
   ]
};

 Does your exclude look like this?

 '*' => [

Re: [BackupPC-users] Exclusions List

This is what it is. I added some other to see if it catches.
$Conf{BackupFilesExclude} = {
  'Media' => [
'*.mp3',
'*/*.mp3',
'/*.mp3'
  ]
};

Hmm. I tried */*.mp3 and /*.mp3. It's still picking up the test mp3
files. I make a new file ever incremental to see if it picks it up.

I'm not seeing the filters when I run the incremental: /usr/bin/ssh
-q

-x -l root 171.67.220.30 /usr/bin/rsync --server --sender --numeric-
ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --hard-links --times --block-
size=2048 --recursive . /Users/heathy/Music/

Should I see my filters in the command that gets run?

Thanks,

heath

The backup part is working. The problem is that the exclusions

it can exclude files.

I think you have to add the path. Something like */*.mp3

[BackupPC-users] Exclusions List

2009-10-12 Thread Heath Yob
I'm having problems getting the exclusions to work.

Server is a debian 5 box running version 3.1. I'm backing up an OSX
client via ssh rsync.

The backup part is working. The problem is that the exclusions aren't
working. For example i'm trying to exclude mp3s. So I've added both
*.mp3 and .mp3 to the exclusion list and it's still backing up the
mp3s. I'm wondering if I'm missing something. The examples of the
exclusions only show directories and not files even though it states
it can exclude files.

"List of directories or files to exclude from the backup."

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Heath
