[BackupPC-users] Some directory are not in the backup

2010-09-23 Thread IvyAlice
Hello Less Micksell,

Thank you for your reply.

I use the daemon rsyncd cause the security guy told me that this solution is
more secure than using rsync/ssh without password between the machines
(backuppc is installed on a real server used for other things, too)

When I launch the command from the server to the host :
#rsync -av MyClient:backupETC

#receiving incremental file list
#drwxr-xr-x4096 2010/09/23 07:57:29 backupETC
#sent 12 bytes received 47 bytes 16.86 bytes/sec

[BackupPC-users] Some directory are not in the backup

2010-09-22 Thread IvyAlice
Hello everybody,

Using rsyncd method, I tried tu backup all the /etc directory
On the client, in /etc/rsyncd.conf I got
---
…include from = /etc/rsyncd.backupETC.include
---

And in the /etc/rsyncd.backupETC.include I just have
---
/etc/***
---

So in my backups, I thought I see all the datas. But when I go to the
/etc/pam.d or in the /etc/vim directory, I got no files even thought the files
exists on the machines I backed up.

So some files missing, but the log show no error, and worst, in the XferLOG.x.z
I see the missing files
---
  create d 755 0/04096 etc/pam.d
  create 644 0/0 182 etc/pam.d/atd
  create 644 0/0 384 etc/pam.d/chfn
  create 644 0/0 581 etc/pam.d/chsh
  create 644 0/0 392 etc/pam.d/common-account
  create 644 0/0 436 etc/pam.d/common-auth
  create 644 0/01212 etc/pam.d/common-password
ect..
---

I really don’t understand why some sub-directory are void.

What can I test now ?

Best regards.

Ivy

[BackupPC-users] how read .z log files ?

2010-09-14 Thread IvyAlice
Hi Carl

Use BackupPC_zcat to catenate the file.
 On Debian-ish systems it's /usr/share/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_zcat

Thank you it works fine

[BackupPC-users] how read .z log files ?

2010-09-13 Thread IvyAlice
Hello everybody,

I got some problems with backuppc and I want to read the XferLOG.z file.
I can't read it either with vim or nano and I can't extract the file with
uncompress, gunzi, zcat or tar (it tells it's not a tar file)

I search on google and on this forum but I didn't find the solution.

Do you know how can I read those log files ?

Best regards,

Ivy
