[BackupPC-users] BackupFilesExclude issue
Using the 4.1.2 COPR on CentOS7. If I set the BackupFilesExclude in config.pl it will be overwritten the second I change any other setting. If I change the setting in the GUI it saves, but reverts to empty the next time any other setting is saved. 2017-05-11 16:29:05 tsadmin changed MaxOldPerPCLogFiles in main config to '12' from '10' 2017-05-11 16:29:05 Reloading config/host files via CGI request 2017-05-11 16:29:05 Next wakeup is 2017-05-11 17:00:00 2017-05-11 16:35:20 tsadmin changed BackupFilesExclude in main config to {'*' => ['lastlog']} from {'*' => []} 2017-05-11 16:35:20 Reloading config/host files via CGI request 2017-05-11 16:35:20 Next wakeup is 2017-05-11 17:00:00 2017-05-11 16:35:39 tsadmin changed BackupFilesExclude in main config to {'*' => []} from {'*' => ['lastlog']} 2017-05-11 16:35:39 tsadmin changed MaxOldPerPCLogFiles in main config to '10' from '12' 2017-05-11 16:35:39 Reloading config/host files via CGI request 2017-05-11 16:35:39 Next wakeup is 2017-05-11 17:00:00 Ideas? -- Contractor: AMA Incorporated Mark Moorcroft – Lead Admin ESTRAD Linux Computer Support NASA Ames Research Center Moffett Field, CA 94035-1000 N230/108 (MS N230-1) -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot ___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/

Re: [BackupPC-users] BackupPC v4 for Fedora / EPEL Update
Unfortunately I’m not in that position or I would LOVE to. As of yet we don’t have cloud backup. Can’t wait to update 3.3.1 to 4.1. I plan to move my 3.x data directory aside and start it from scratch on 4.x. I’ll trash the old stuff in a month or so. ➢ If you're interested in a testing package (it ➢ may eat babies, etc) then I can share it privately. -- Contractor: AMA Incorporated Mark Moorcroft – Lead Admin ESTRAD Linux Computer Support NASA Ames Research Center Moffett Field, CA 94035-1000 N230/108 (MS N230-1) Desk Phone # +1-650-604-4784 -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot ___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/

Now that 4.1 is out is there an updated idea when the EPEL package hits for el7? Re: [BackupPC-users] systemd init for version 4?
No worries, I appreciate the efforts. The new version has two new dependencies, BackupPC-XS (a perl module) and rsync-bpc (a fork of rsync with the required modifications) The review requests can be found here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1432122 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1432104 I have build local packages of these and BackupPC 4 but haven't gotten them working just yet. $DAYJOB has to come first :) Thanks, Richard -- Contractor: AMA Incorporated Mark Moorcroft – Lead Admin ESTRAD Linux Computer Support -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
Re: [BackupPC-users] systemd init for version 4?
Do you have any target date in mind to have the epel package ready to update from 3.x to 4.x? So I can tell my boss. The current Fedora / EPEL package supplies a SystemD unit file but it uses type=oneshot which I don't agree with (although it works). I'm currently working on taking over maintenance of the package since the current maintainer doesn't really use it anymore. I plan on changing the service file to: -- Contractor: AMA Incorporated Mark Moorcroft – Lead Admin ESTRAD Linux Computer Support -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
Re: [BackupPC-users] systemd init for version 4?
Awesome news. I have been waiting for this day for 10+ years. I'm currently working on taking over maintenance of the package since the current maintainer doesn't really use it anymore. [BackupPC-users] systemd init for version 4?
I’m curious since el7 has been the current OS for a pretty long time why the “new” version of BackupPC defaults to init.d? I will probably wait for the epel package to appear before I upgrade. But I gave consideration to piecing together a 4.x install to replace 3.x, but locate things so when the package arrives I can migrate to yum managed updates. Is there a backuppc.service file in the git repo, or is it left to the user to come up with that? Re: [BackupPC-users] Status on new BackupPC v4
Personally, I have only one fundamental issue with BackuPC 3.x, that we rely upon to back up all of our linux clients (including a 3000 core cluster). The problem is that it replaces modern rsync with some ancient embedded version. If that one thing could be "patched" I would hardly care about any other changes. The possibility of using modern rsync, and possibly "parsync" to do multi-threaded transfers is about the only thing I currently have to work around. I have even looked at commercial alternatives, and so far none of them make any economic sense to use.
