[BackupPC-users] Getting backuppc to wol a client
Hi guys, thanks for posting the small guide, unfortunettly it does not work for me, the message that i get is 2011-09-06 11:06:31 no ping response what i did exacly is create /etc/backuppc/wolping.bsh with the code in the guide, added owner backuppc and group www-data , 777 rights just to be sure set PingPath to /etc/backuppc deleted content for NmbLookupFindHostCmd (blank) added to /etc/ethers a clinet pc's mac and hostname what i haven't understood is who will execute wolping.bsh? how backuppc knows to execute that specific file? [BackupPC-users] cannot get backuppc to wol a client
Hi guys,
backuppc won't wol client pc
NmbLookupFindHostCmd = /etc/backuppc/wakeup.sh 00:1a:4d:8c:0a:78 1 $host
wakeup.sh has 777 rights and contains:
#!/bin/bash
wakeonlan $1
sleep ${2}m
/usr/bin/nmblookup $3
using the dos command wolcmd.exe 001a4d8c0a78 192.168.2.74 255.255.255.0 wakes
the pc up.
What am i doing wrong?

I looked over it but i don't know how to call these commands, the only thing
that i figured out is that the commands are:
if called from windows
shutdown /s /f /m \\clientcomputername
and called from linux:
net rpc shutdown -t 10 -f -C Shut Down message -W DOMAINNAME -U
adminusername%adminpass -I 192.168.0.x

After backup is completed backuppc will call a procedure, defined in
$Conf{DumpPostUserCmd} (see your configuration files in /etc/backuppc/*.pl
or Backup Setings in the GUI).
The procedure must be written by you (e.g. a bash script) and must
submit shutdown -s on the windows PC.
Attend: You need an adminstrator account on windows as well as a remote
connection (e.g. cygwin/ssh).
This apply too for your unix clients, except you have to use shutdown -h.
PROBLEM: the mail's that backuppc send form a yahoo mailbox to another
yahoo mailbox works great. But when using our own mail server the things
go worng, and i will explain why:
Our mail server is located in Hungary at example.hu but our mailboxes are
at examplero.ro , the problem is that when sendmail try's to send mail
it
does not find exmplero.ro:

this happens for sender or recipient if at explero.ro:
Sending test email using /usr/sbin/sendmail -t xx at yahoo.com -f
xxx at exemplero.ro

xx at yahoo.com if none is examplero.ro everything is fine.
