That's great to hear. I'd like to suggest that some attention
be spent on things that seem to cause the most confusion on
this list. The one that comes to mind first is the way directories
and files are selected for backup. There are other issues that
come up often that aren't just a matter of RTFM.

Cordially,

I don't use the SF CVS site very actively - I tend to do batch updates
closer to the release time. Other developers coordinate either directly
with me or in some cases do use CVS.

I have been particularly busy this year and my time for BackupPC
development has been reduced.

However, I've been thinking more about major features for BackupPC
4.x and I'm definitely looking forward to being able to spend more
time on this in the future. I particularly want to change the way
backups are stored so that the only complete/filled backup is the
most recent (whether or not it is a full or incremental), and all
prior backups are stored as reverse-time deltas. This has a number
of significant benefits. There has been some good discussion around
this over the last couple of years.

Starting a few months ago Zmanda began funding a developer, Paul Mantz,
to work on BackupPC. He's developing an FTP XferMethod, and also taking
that as an opportunity to learn more about the architecture. His work
will likely be the basis of a 3.2 release.

Bottom line, BackupPC development is certainly continuing.

Craig

Looks like the last commit was in January:

I believe BackupPC is still a pretty active project. Releases are
usually quite some time apart, but that's probably because it's very
stable and pretty feature complete already.

Nils Breunese.

P.S. The development mailinglist is here:

[BackupPC-users] next version ?

2008-09-30 Thread Philippe Rousselot
Hi,

I went to the sourceforge site and noticed that the last update of ths
cvs was 9 month old. Does it mean that developpement stopped or that the
next version is not on this server ?

Thanks in advance

Philippe
