Re: [BackupPC-users] Xfer error but can't find it

2017-04-24 Thread Colin
Thank you Craig.
I had been there before but completely missed some Permission denied (I had
a script that grep for permission (lower case) ).
I think that might just be it, will research further and if needed will
report back.

Cheers!

Do you see anything useful if you display the log file errors only on the
web interface?

[BackupPC-users] Xfer error but can't find it

2017-04-18 Thread Colin
Hello everyone,
Almost everyday I get Xfer errors from different hosts that are being
backup by BackupPC (version 3.3.1).
For example this one:

2017-04-18 03:23:18 full backup 349 complete, 22195 files, 38456080577
bytes, 6 xferErrs (0 bad files, 0 bad shares, 6 other)

And in the *XferLOG* file for that host, I can't find any message saying
"error".

Any ideas what are those 6 xferErrs ?
Thank you.

Kind regards,
Colin

 Thanks, Nils

Should have browsed the list archives before asking, sorry.
I'm running Ubuntu based BackupPC version 2.1.1-2ubuntu3

How can I upgrade to 2.1.2pl2?
 Perhaps using another repository?

I don't know if anyone has packaged 2.1.2pl2 for Debian/Ubuntu yet. I
use BackupPC on CentOS myself and installed it from source.

By the way, you don't need to upgrade tot 2.1.2pl2 to fix this. Just
change --devices to -D for $Conf{RsyncArgs} and $Conf
{RsyncRestoreArgs} in your config.pl file. There are other fixes in
the new version of course (check the release notes).

I don't think so. Nils is a pretty common name in Scandinavia

[BackupPC-users] xFer Error

2006-07-14 Thread Gabriel Menini
Hello, list.

PC to be backed up: MS-Windows XP
BackupPC server: Ubuntu Linux.

When making tests using rsync username and password to copy some files
in command line everything went allright. My rsyncd.conf and
rsync.secret files in the Windows box are OK and files are transmitted
OK, too.

However, when launching BackupPC process I get the following in the XferLOG

Connected to pc-gabriel:873, remote version 26
Connected to module docs
Sending args: --server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group
--devices --links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive
--checksum-seed=32761 --ignore-times . .
Read EOF:
Tried again: got 0 bytes
Done: 0 files, 0 bytes
Got fatal error during xfer (Unable to read 4 bytes)
Backup aborted (Unable to read 4 bytes)

My /etc/backuppc/config.pl has the correct username and passowrd equal
to the username and password located in the rsync.secret file at the
host 'pc-gabriel'.

The pc-gabriel.pl file under /etc/backuppc has the name of the modules
to backup --'docs' in this case--.

In the Windows PC the rsyncd.conf has:
[docs]
 path = c:/Documents and Settings
 comment = Documents and Settings
 strict modes = false
 auth users = hereismyuser
 secrets file = c:/rsyncd/rsyncd.secrets
 hosts allow = IP.of.backuppc.machine
 read only = true
 list = false

Where do I have to look for more info about the xFer error?
