Re: [BackupPC-users] Per host host.pl not found on new CentOS 6.3 install

2012-09-24 Thread Daniel Doughty
Thanks for the support guys. You're right, once I edited the per host
config the directory and files showed up.

I was having a weird issue where it's passing a -N flag in the smbclient
backup command string which denotes anonymous access even though I supplied
a password. I removed it and can now backup the Server 2003 client I've
been testing with.

Hopefully will be able to start using it for a customer this week. Thanks
again for the great assistance!

That's it. Create the directory /etc/BackupPC/pc. owner
backuppc:backuppc. Copy the per-host file into it, owner
 backuppc:backuppc, and away you go.

Or you could go with Les's way and configure the web interface, which
you'll probably want to do anyway. Thank's Les ;-)

 Tony

Ok BackupPC seemed to find the per-host config file, just didn't do
any backup. But that could be another problem ;-(

It created the directory /var/lib/BackupPB/pc/host. So I assume
that meant it found the config file and attempted a backup which
failed. Just an empty LOG file and a LOCK file in the directory.

I'm not sure the per-pc config files are created unless there are
non-default values for them. Why don't you use the web interface for
these settings?

My guess is the rpm just didn't create the empty directory. Did you
try creating CONFDIR/pc manually (take care to get the owner/group
right, use the same as the parent dir). Then put the file there and
see if it works.

OK, I didn't recall having any trouble with the RPM and the web
interface so I went through the motions on a clean machine and this is
all it takes:

#yum install backuppc
edit /etc/httpd/conf.d/BackupPC.conf
change allow from 127.0.0.1 to allow from All
Follow the directions at the top of the file and:
htpasswd -c /etc/BackupPC/apache.users yourusername

edit /etc/BackupPC/configure.pl
change $Conf{CgiAdminUsers} = ''; to $Conf{CgiAdminUsers} = 'yourusername';

#service backuppc restart
#service httpd restart

Log into http://server_IP/backuppc with a browser

Click edit hosts, add one, save.
Click host summary, click new host
Click edit config (upper one, in host section)
make the changes you want.
When you save, the /etc/BackupPC/pc directory is added with the per host config.
