 I did not notice that the download existed for this because the

 And what I mean by that for some reason the bacula-tray-monitor.exe is

[Bacula-users] Excluding files and directories recursive

2011-11-04 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Hi!

I have defined:

FileSet {
  Name = bacula
  @/etc/bacula/clients/include/linux.inc
  @/etc/bacula/clients/include/fileset.exc
}

where linux.inc is:
  Include {
Options {
  signature = MD5
  xattrsupport = yes
  onefs = yes
}
File = \\|/bin/sh -c 'df -TlP | tail -n +2 | grep
\ext\\|reiserfs\\|ufs\\|xfs\\|zfs\ | grep -v \/BACKUP/\ | awk
\{print \\$7}\'
Exclude Dir Containing = .exclude
  }

and fileset.exc:
  Exclude {
File = /var/lib/bacula
File = /var/lib/mysql
File = /var/lib/nfs
File = /var/lib/postgresql
File = /var/lock
File = /var/run
File = /lib/init/rw
File = /BACKUP
File = /HOME
File = /home
File = /dev
File = /proc
File = /sys
File = /tmp
File = /.journal
File = /.fsck
  }

now, backing up bacula itself I get errors:
2011-11-04 01:10:09   bacula-fd JobId 8007:  Could not stat
/var/lib/postgresql/9.1/main/base/19190/27367: ERR=No such file or
directory

Since this is an excluded path /var/lib/postgresql I'd assume it
to be excluded, but it is included again by the script creating the
includes, leading to:

FileSet {
  Name = bacula
  Include {
Options {
  signature = MD5
  xattrsupport = yes
  onefs = yes
}
File = / /boot /var/lib/postgresql
Exclude Dir Containing = .exclude
  }
  Exclude {
File = /var/lib/bacula
File = /var/lib/mysql
File = /var/lib/nfs
File = /var/lib/postgresql
File = /var/lock
File = /var/run
File = /lib/init/rw
File = /BACKUP
File = /HOME
File = /home
File = /dev
File = /proc
File = /sys
File = /tmp
File = /.journal
File = /.fsck
  }
}

Any idea why /var/lib/postgresql is descended into?
And how do I exclude it the right way?

[Bacula-users] moving clients to a new director

2011-11-04 Thread Ben Walton

Hi All,

I am currently running two distinct bacula setups. The director of
the original setup is a client of the the new, but that is the only
link between the two right now. Both director nodes also run the only
storage node for their particular set of clients.

I'm considering collapsing these two setups such that I have two
storage nodes and only one director.

While that's easy enough to do in a slash and burn style, I'd like to
maintain the current set of volumes and job information if possible.
Is there an easy/sane way to do this?

I think it would look something like:

0. Stop dir1.
1. Add clients from dir1 to dir2, perform required client config for
   each client.
2. Add storage config to dir2 to reference storage daemon on dir1.
3. Use bscan to import existing volumes from dir1 into catalog of
   dir2.

Am I nuts? Has anyone done something similar?

Thanks

 I found this in the release notes - The old bat version browser has

[Bacula-users] restore taking a long time....

2011-11-04 Thread Mike Eggleston
Hi,

I'm trying to verify what files are backed up from a specific server. In
bconsole I have issued restore and the client name. The process that
builds the synthetic filesystem is taking a massive amount of time. The
several times I've tried to test/verify this restore I've killed the
synthetic file system generation because it takes so long. I've never
seen it finish for this server.

What can be done to speed up this restore?

[Bacula-users] Client side functions

2011-11-04 Thread Christopher Geegan

I really like Bacula, however one drawback I have observed is the lack of
client-side features. For example, it would be beneficial in some cases to be
able to initiate a restore from the client. Also, for remote clients it would
seem that a VPN connection or other be required since all communication is
initiated from the server.

Does anyone know if Bacula is investigating making clients more autonomous? --

This require the client to control the director,
  which, i guess, would imply security issue.
  That said, backup and restore initiation has once been in the
  roadmap (I saw this years ago) but when checking the tod/roadmap
  on the website today, I can't see anything like this.
  The feature request probably vanished.

Le 04/11/2011 17:14, Christopher Geegan a crit:

[Bacula-users] Bacula Bweb

2011-11-04 Thread Rick Knight
I have just upgraded from Bacula 2.4.4 to 5.2.1 and so far everything is
working well except Bweb. After getting Bacula upgraded and running I
compiled Bweb and then worked through the install instruction for an
upgrade and, when that failed, I used the install instructions. I've
been over the instruction several times but I can't see anything
obvious. When I try to access bweb from my browser I get a 500 error.
When I check the apache log file I see this error for every connect
attempt...

[error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] malformed header from script. Bad
header=!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC -//W3C/: bweb.pl

Bacula-web works fine but doesn't give as much info as the bacula-web
from 2.4.4 and bweb from my previous bacula version (2.4.4) worked well.
Can anyone help me figure out what I've done wrong here?

Thanks,
Rick

I think that means the job will have to wait till whatever job that is

 The problem is that the spool file is NOT on an NFS mounted disk! The
 spool file is on a GPFS partition. Spool files are limited to 200GB each,
 and there were two jobs running, so the 1TB partition was not full.

 It's difficult to deal with failures at the very end of jobs that take ~24hrs.

 Any suggestions?

Stale NFS file handle is the error code ESTALE and usually means that the
nfs server was rebooted. Maybe GPFS gives it a similar meaning?

 Hi All,

 I am currently running two distinct bacula setups. The director of
 the original setup is a client of the the new, but that is the only
 link between the two right now. Both director nodes also run the only
 storage node for their particular set of clients.

 FYI, I think this message was held up by moderation and has already been
 answered.

My apologies. I am entirely wrong. I had the wrong month in my head…. Sorry.

Hi,

why don't you just install bconsole on your clients for that?

+1

Additionally, you can create URLs, which if fetched, will initiate a job.

It's a simple matter of scripting on the web server.

Hadn't thought about that. I will look into it tomorrow.

That's a unique approach. I will investigate this one also.

Thank you.
