Re: [Bacula-users] Problem purging a volume from console

Purging is *not* a way to remove a tape label.
It just marks the tape as empty in the catalog.

The tape's showing up in "list media" is independent of whether it is in
the drive or even in the changer. "list media" just lists all tapes from
the catalog, ie. the tapes known to Bacula, regardless where they are.

There is something strange here.
Is your tape changer storage really named "File"?
That's typically the name of a storage device using disk files.

The Bacula "label" command will not overwrite an existing Bacula tape
label (or anything looking like one) to save you from destroying
existing tape content inadvertently.
If you want to write a different label to a volume already labelled and
known to Bacula you normally use the "relabel" command.
Unfortunately the "relabel" command does not have a "barcodes" option.

The alternative is to overwrite the tape label from the commmand line
with "mt weof" and remove it from the catalog with the "delete volume"
command.

As I wrote above, this won't help.

This looks like you manipulated Bacula's database directly so now it is
inconsistent.

> *purge slot=1

That command doesn't exist and wouldn't make much sense, since purging
is a catalog operation and independent of where the tape currently is
physically.

> What is the proper way of overcoming this issue?

Either relabel the tapes manually with their barcode labels using the
"relabel" command, or remove the unwanted labels from the tapes with "mt
weof" and from the catalog with "delete volume" before running the
"label barcodes" command.
But first you'll have to fix your catalog database.

Re: [Bacula-users] Baculum Version Number Verification

2018-11-08 Thread Marcin Haba
Hello Chris,

Unfortunately the Baculum version isn't displayed anywhere.

Some time ago I received an idea from Wanderlei Huttel about adding
showing this version to the Baculum. I have this idea on my mind
however I couldn't implement it so far.

[Bacula-users] FreeBSD: 7.x ports deprecated - expire 2019-03-01

2018-11-08 Thread Dan Langille
Hello,

I write with my plans for the Bacula 7.x packages on FreeBSD.

Bacula 7.x was last updated 20 months ago. Bacula 9.x came out shortly
thereafter.

(re https://sourceforge.net/projects/bacula/files/bacula/)

On all the 7.x ports, I plan to set:

DEPRECATED=Unsupported, please install Bacula 9.x

and

EXPIRATION_DATE=2019-03-01

I chose that date because it is more than 3 months from now, and still gives
users the FreeBSD quarterly ports branch until 2019Q2.

Those changes should appear later this week.

Thank you.

Bacula community public gpg signing key is available.
There was a small problem due to website change but this is fixed now.

[Bacula-users] About status schedule command

2018-11-08 Thread Miguel Gutiérrez Páez
Hi all,

I'm getting quite confused with the "status schedule" bconsole command. If
I execute "status schedule" as is, it doesn't return a full list of the
scheduled jobs. Some are skipped and not show. This issue got me crazy for
some hours. I realized that the only way of see ALL the scheduled jobs in
the, for example, the next two days, is with the command "status schedule
days=2". Is this normal? Why the "status schedule" doesn't return a full
list of scheduled jobs? Why some of them are skipped? Or am I missing
something?

Regards.
