[Bacula-users] jobid duplicate, bacula client wrong

2007-07-17 Thread jeabacula
Hi, I have bacula 2.0.3 on a debian, I installed it on january of this year
Recently, on one of my server I see an error on the bacula client of my2k3
server (windows 2003 server)
I campared the jobs of bacula-dir against bacula-client
you know... stat dir...stat client my2k3-fd.

The result don't match, betwen client and server...
With this question I perform a query (3: List last 20 Full Backups for a
Client)
but the result tell me that the database has a duplicate jobid.

I know bacula-dir makes every day a full backup of that machine, but the
bacula client and bacula-dir tell me wrong things

Someone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks

Jea

[Bacula-users] how to increase write bandwith of bacula

2007-07-17 Thread jeabacula
Hi, my bacula client it's on a laptop with debian etch.
My tape has a write bandwidth of 80mb/s, my wireless network goes to 11mbps,
and my bacula-client do a backup with 361.4 KB/s of rate
how to increase the bandwidth ?

another example
my servers have a gigabit, and my bacula do a backup with a maximum speed of
dc2k3: 11736.6 KB/s (276.0 GB), 5,25 hours
my2k3: 958.4 KB/s (25.16 GB), 2 hours 51
proyectos:  4884.6 KB/s, (180.7 GB), 9 hours 36
lawson2: 7216.5 KB/s, (844.3 MB), 1 min 24 secs
carpanta: 5201.3 KB/s, (14.22 GB), 45 mins 52 secs

How do I know what happen with the speed on servers with identical
hardware, doing theirs backups in the midnight and no more
Something wrong on my bacula-dir.conf?

I have a LTO3 ultrium

  If there is a power cut the job is lost.

  You should run mysqlcheck -A (or the postgres/sqlite equivalent) AND
  dbcheck before restarting Bacula, in order to ensure the database is
  not damaged.

  A UPS is relatively cheap. Why not buy one?

  Yup, that will do. I had the same problem and did exactly as Ryan
  instructed. I have a little script I put together.

  #Run bconsole

  #unmount

  #delete media volume=volume-name
  #Quit bconsole

  # Rewind the tape
  mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
  # Write physical End Of File (EOF) to the tape
  mt -f /dev/nst0 weof

  #Run bconsole
  #label
  #mount

  Adapt the device file name to your environment. Regards,

  Look at mt's man page for more information.

 Bacula 1.38.11 ignores the user's groups, so you need to pass -g tape when
 starting bacula-sd. This is the same in 1.38.9, so maybe you changed
 something?

[Bacula-users] what's the best way to do backup for a logical volume (LVM)

2006-09-29 Thread jeabacula
Hi gentlemen, I tried before to do things that could not be the best way to
backup my logical volume.

The problem:
I have many logical volumes from machines that could not be sttoped, then I
had two idea

The alternatives:
1- to do a backup for whole RAW partition making a snapshot
(lvcreate --snapshot -L 1Gb --name backup-root vg-uml-008/root)

2- to do a snapshot, then mount the snapshot and make a backup from the
mounted point (to do this I'm trying to use a RunScript in Job resource**)

3-somebody have any idea reliable?

I submit the question because you have a lot of experience that 3 weeks that
I have

Re: [Bacula-users] what's the best way to do backup for a logical volume (LVM)

2006-09-29 Thread jeabacula
Hi, I'm trying as you told me. The bacula it's backing up whole logical
volume
with the config:

Client {
  Name = wrack-fd
  Address = wrack.mydomain.com
  Catalog = Catalogo
  Password = seknmit5fwllkjh3g78klwuethñkw4nk645tig
}
Job {
  Name = wrack
  Client = wrack-fd
  FileSet = RawPartition
  Write Bootstrap = /usr/local/bacula/var/bacula/working/wrack.bsr
  JobDefs = Raw Servers
  Client Run Before Job =
/home/uml-homes/uml-base/scripts/scriptBacula/uml-008_baculaIni.sh
  Client Run After Job =
/home/uml-homes/uml-base/scripts/scriptBacula/uml-008_baculaFin.sh
}

and FileSet, telling explicit to bacula the mount point to backup
FileSet {
  Name = RawPartition
  Include {
Options { signature=MD5; sparse=yes }
File = /home/uml-homes/uml-008/mnt
File = /home/uml-homes/uml-008/mnt/var
File = /home/uml-homes/uml-008/mnt/usr
  }
}

Thanks again guys

 I think what you need is a Client Run Before Job with a script to
 create the snapshot,
 then the regular Bacula backup of the snapshot, then a Client Run
 After Job to unmount the snapshot.

Hi,

didn't you notice Kerns reply to your mail from September 22?

I thought he explained things quite clearly...

Re: [Bacula-users] restoring file to a logical volume

2006-09-27 Thread jeabacula
Hi, after try restore the file with error, I try to mount the filesystem on
the lvm, it show me an error.

I think my trouble it's on the way that I do the backup, I will explain you:
#1-take a snapshot with:
lvcreate --snapshot -L 1G --name backup-root vg-uml-008/root
#2-then run the job:
Client {
  Name = wrack-fd
  Address = wrack.mydomain.com
  Catalog = Catalogo
  Password = kwhefwl9t34tn2467g9oo
}
Job {
  Name = wrack
  Client = wrack-fd
  #FileSet = Full UML
  FileSet = RawPartition
  Write Bootstrap = /usr/local/bacula/var/bacula/working/wrack.bsr
  #JobDefs = Default Servers
  JobDefs = Raw Servers
}

#The file set
FileSet {
  Name = RawPartition
  Include {
Options { signature=MD5; sparse=yes }
File = /dev/mapper/vg--uml--008-backup--root
#File = /home/jzam/mkfs/mnt-tmp
  }
}

#the jobdefs
JobDefs {
  Name = Raw Servers
  Type = Backup
  Schedule = WeeklyCycleRawServer
  Messages = Standard
  Storage = Tape
  Pool = Default
  Priority = 10
}

3# the backup with no error
#At the begening the backup do with no error, I tried again with the same
file:

27-sep 01:05 doom-dir: Start Backup JobId 662, Job=wrack.2006-09-27_01.05.00

4# then the file it's backed up, I delete de logical volume to try to
restore it and verify the file it's ok.
lvremove /dev/vg-uml-008/backup-root -f

5# I delete the file because it was a snapshot, to retore it I need a empty
logical volume in the same group
lvcreate --size 1G --name backup-root vg-uml-008
#the logical volume it's not mounted

6# then I run the restore job, some time later I look the error message
before showed

7# I try to mount the filesystem, Then I look an error

8# I don't know what I'm doing wrong
=(

thanks a lot

Did you try mounting the filesystem on the lvm after this command? I am
assuming that there was some type of error in the recording of the filesize
(during the backup) as I know you did not backup a 0 byte file and then try
to restore it!
