[Bacula-users] Automated Disk Backup Question - I still don't understand!

2011-02-25 Thread Randy Katz
Hi,

This is bacula 5.0.3:

I have Pools set to the following:

Pool {
   Name = workstation1
   Use Volume Once = yes
   Pool Type = Backup
   LabelFormat = workstation1-
   AutoPrune = yes
   Volume Retention = 60d
   Maximum Volumes = 60
   Maximum Volume Jobs = 1
   Recycle = yes
}

I now have an intervention message that says:

25-Feb 12:53 workstation1-sd JobId 553: Job
Backup-Client-workstation1.2011-02-24_05.53.25_04 is waiting. Cannot find any
appendable volumes.
Please use the label command to create a new Volume for:
 Storage:  DeviceName-workstation1 (/disk1/bacula)
 Pool: workstation1
 Media type:   MediaType-workstation1

I look and there are indeed 60 Volumes, I had assumed they would begin to
recycle but not sure
what that means at this point and have seen various discussions that are not
clear to me. My questions
are:

1. What would I need to do to get this backup to work/backup?
2. What could I do so that in the future when 60 Volumes is reached Volumes and
Disk
Space start to recycle?

Thank you in advance,
Randy

Randy:
  I think what you want to do is set the Volume Retention to 59 days.
Otherwise, it will run 1 more run and expect a new volume. It has to do with
the timing and the order of how the volumes count.

If life gives you lemons, keep them-- because hey.. free lemons.

Or allow a few more volumes
