Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula client with several policies retention

Hello guys!

Thanks a lot for your answers :) I have created 2 client entries with
different names and same IP and works perfectly!!! pointing each client
name to a different fileset / job retention.

Have a nice day,
Guille

For example.. 5 years for logs files and 3 months for the rest files.

So this client will have 2 file retention, 2 job retention and 2 volume
retention. Is it possible to configure it in bacula?

Thanks in advance!

How about setting up two Client{} resources in the Director pointing to the
same FD, then run log jobs to one Client{}
resource, and the regular file jobs to the other Client{} resource.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Bill

As long as they are two different jobs with different FileSets writing to two
different backup pools (e.g. 5 years, 3 months), yes.
You could use a "hack" to use the Client's resource File/Job Retention, which
is having two Client entries (just different names), for the connection to the
same remote Bacula Client. Then you could have a single Pool and granular
volume recycling if using "MaximumVolumeJobs=1".

Hello

Since both, file retention and job retention are set per-client I
believe

it is not possible.

Note that if your file retention is shorter than the job retention and
your files expire but their job does not, you will still be able to
perform a restore of all the files but will not be able to browse and
select specific files for the restoration.
