Problem is solved. Added a new tape , labeled the new volume and the backup is

Sorry. I see there is a problem with the forum to mailing list
connection for tables like that. I will try to look at your question
later today. I am swamped here at work so I can not promise this will
be quick..

I tried to register for the mailing list and after a lot of
frustration I have an account but I can not login to the bacula forum.
BTW, the frustration was caused by the captcha image verification. I
got the answer wrong 5 or 6 times before I got through.

Anyways, I do not think you need new tapes. Did the mount command
actually load the tape in the drive? Could it have been busy when the
bacula prompt thought it was done and asked you to mount it again.
Your autochanger does not have a barcode reader?

[Bacula-users] Mount issue ?

2009-04-13 Thread Karel

Hi all,

Recently I recieved the following notification:

09-Apr 23#58;00 sterialux1-sd#58; Please mount Volume 000103 or label a new
one for#58;

nbsp; nbsp; Media type#58;nbsp; nbsp;HPDAT72x6

I have a tape drive that fits 6 tapes. I never had to replace a tape before.
My first idea was that I ran out of space. But when I list my media I see that
Volume 103 is in Append status, so I guess there is still enough space?

So I was thinking that maybe it had a problem mounting volume 103 so I first
did a update slots

Device DAT72 has 6 slots.
Connecting to Storage daemon DAT72 at sterialux1#58;9103 ...

And then I mounted the 3th slot

#mount DAT72
Enter autochanger slot#58; Unexpected question has been received.
3
3001 OK mount. Device=Drive0 #40;Tape0#41;

After that I recieved the following message

Currently I'm a little confused, do I just need new tapes ? Or is there
something wrong with slot3 or with my tape device?

ps: My Bacula version is 2.2.0

2008-12-04 Thread Massimo Schenone
Yes. I did.

To solve the issue I tried to mount via shell command: mtx load 36
then inside bconsole: mount slot=36
however bacula is not able to append data, device is open but pointer is
at the beginning of the media:

Device parameters:
Archive name: /dev/rmt/0bn Device name: Drive-1
File=1 block=0
Min block=0 Max block=0
Total Bytes=79,478,784 Blocks=1,231 Bytes/block=64,564
Positioned at File=1 Block=0

Hm
I have released the drive, done an inventory with update slots scan
and restarted the backup, then mounted the tape by hand.. now test
backup is running...

May be I'm wrong in autochanger configuration..
I set the tape drive /dev/rmt/0bn to enable dynamic size block usage
(BSD style..) ..is it correct? btape test was successful..

Another question is: may be I need to customize mtx-changer?

Thanks!

  Invalid slot=0 sounds strange..

Have you run an 'update slots' command after loading the tapes into
the library, and before trying to mount them?

Re: [Bacula-users] Mount issue

 Hm
I have released the drive, done an inventory with update slots scan

Good to know.

May be I'm wrong in autochanger configuration..
I set the tape drive /dev/rmt/0bn to enable dynamic size block usage
(BSD style..) ..is it correct? btape test was successful..

Dynamic block sizes are correct for Bacula (typically).

Another question is: may be I need to customize mtx-changer?

Possible... sleep times or wait_for_device() might need to be
adjusted, but I think you would see different problems if that was the
cause.

Arno

 Thanks!

 Hi all,
I have bacula 2.2.8 on Solaris 10 (package downloaded from
blastwave.org) connectred to a Sun STK C4 autoloader.
Bacula looks like working properly until it needs a tape from a
 different pool.

I recreated the problem running a backup: bacula asks for manual mount..
