There really isn't any point in running Raspbian on a Beagleboard. Raspbian
is just a *customized* version of Debian specificly for the Raspberry Pi.
Actually, programs compiled under Raspbian will run on Debian installed on a
Beagleboard (well except programs that make use of Raspberry Pi specific
features). This includes programs that use GPIO -- using the /sys/class/gpio
API, so long as the GPIO numbers are changed to Beagleboard GPIO and the
proper pinmodes are set (eg the proper UBoot overlays are loaded, etc.).

[beagleboard] Re: need help with Beagelboard X15

2019-09-10 Thread Jason Kridner
We recently identified some adjustments to our gadget descriptors to help
Windows driver enumeration:

https://github.com/RobertCNelson/boot-scripts/commit/109f74fb87e6034ae1a8971a244064a8d5e090a5

The observation is that some Windows systems choose not to load any
additional drivers for a composite device once it sees a function for which
it doesn't have a known driver. By moving the CDC network driver to the
end, more Windows systems seem to enumerate the drivers properly.

We'll need to apply this fix to X15 boot and push out a new image.

2019-09-10 Thread Sean O'Brien
Hi everyone!

We've launched our pre-order crowdfunding campaign for PrivacySafe - a
secure storage appliance powered by BeagleBoard.org BeagleBone AI. We'd
love to have the support of the BeagleBoard community, and welcome any
feedback and suggestions (or, of course, orders!)

https://privacysafe.ai

Please see the campaign page at https://privacysafe.ai/indiegogo for
product details, and watch the videos for previews of the device.

Best,
~ Sean

What features are you looking for by running Raspbian?

You can run Debian.

It is possible to patch a Raspbian image to boot, but many of the custom
aspects of Raspian won't work or won't do anything useful. If there is a
software feature you are looking for that you use in Raspbian today, best
to request that in the Debian images we assemble as a suitable starting
point.

Hi.
The serial ports have been default-renamed from ttyOx to ttySx.
There is a kernel config to not do this.
Or you can create links from /dev/ttyOx to /dev/ttySx so that programs
trying to use ttyOx works.
