Re: Migrating chip
Out of curiosity, what kind of chip was it? We have had several in our hospital that have migrated - they have all been AVID chips. I don't think we're unique in our scanning method - we start at the shoulder blades and if we don't find one , we go all the way down the dog. We found one AVID chip in a pastern, and one by the sternum. Have never found a Home Again chip that migrated, but I do know of one we put in that was irritated by the dog's draft harness and created an abcess. We no longer use or recommend the AVID chips, though I have been told they now have an anti-migrating feature like Home Again. Joanne Prellberg Polaris Bernese Mtn. Dogs Scottsdale, AZ
Puppy Playhouse (CA) Lawsuit 6/26/03
What we urgently need is emails/faxes of testimonials from people who've had dealings with Puppy Playhouse in La Crescenta, CA. We are going to Small Claims court this Thursday. The goal Thursday is to show that they misrepresent themselves and Jason Scheetz as well as misrepresent these animals. (basically, this constitutes fraud and bad faith). If we can show we are not the only people that they've lied to that will give Dean & I more credibility in court this Thurs. (there is strength in numbers). They claim they had to hire a lawyer to deal with us. (DOUBT IT.) So, they've filed a counter-suite for "reasonable attorney's fees" for $1,576.92. If we have enough written testimonials that back up what we're saying, we can win our suite and their counter-suite. If people will email me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or fax (310) 458-6125 Attn: Dean Jubas or if they'd like to show up at the trial this Thursday 6/26/03 at The Glendale Small Claims Court, 600 E. Broadway, Glendale, CA 91205. Time: 1:30 pm, you are most welcome. Again, thank you so much for joining our efforts. I do believe there is strength in numbers and that we are in the right and these people need to and can be shut down. Thank you ~ Lisa Jubas - Los Angeles, CA __ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! update on limping pup
Thanks so much to those of you who responded with thoughts about Beaumont's limp. The vet manipulated his arm and didn't feel (or hear, LOL)_ anything wrong... he thought maybe it's a sprain or strain. So I got thinking about things and BAM! I remembered that the other day (last week), our 21 yearold was rough-housing with him (not prolonged, because I would've put an immediate stop to that, but like tackled him) and Beaumont yelped and held up his paw like it was hurting. He seemed to get over it pretty quickly and he's quite sedentary at night anyway, so I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary until the next day or the day after. So, I think that's the problem... the vet gave me some anti-inflamatories and told me to have him rest (no exercise or rough play)... so we'll do that and hope he's on the mend in a few days! Thanks again! jenn (and 18 week old rambunctious Beaumont)

Hah, but do you have the pics to prove it? Great shame if you don't! Was so fortunate to have camera there when Simmy was taking Pip for a ride! Mind you, went on for quite a few weeks until he shook her out of the basket and she refused to play anymore! Didn't have camera there for that shot! ? Puppies will be Puppies! Ah, me! The first three days were hot, hot and hot. Maize went reserve one day and Abra went reserve the next. All Abra needed was a major to finish and on the fourth day I realized that the lucky green socks had not left the hotel room -- DUH! So on the fourth day I brought the socks and after showing Maize in bred-by, I raced to the bathroom and changed while Abra's large open bitch class was getting started. The lucky green socks safely on my feet, I nervously paced and tried not to watch while Abra was being shown. More pacing and suddenly the class was over and Abra had won the class -- now on to Winner's Bitch and the anxiety began in earnest. I should have had some faith because Abra got the nod, I jumped up and down and cried, and now I have: CH Pinnacle's East of Eden, VCD1 (TD, CD, NA, NAJ), OA, CDX, DD, CGC -- A BMDCA Versatility Dog!!! This also makes Abra's mom, CH Pinnacle's Borah, CD, DD, the very first bitch to earn the distinction of Top Producer of Versatility Dogs (as per the 2002 Yearbook) and only the second berner to earn this honor -- the other is Borah's father, Jackson :) So thanks to Eden Jonas and Chuck Armatys for trusting me with Abra, who continues to fulfill my dreams. Simmy is Missing!!! OK!!
Ah, that got your attention didn't it! Well, have to say, just had a very frightening experience!! Sit back and relax, all is well, and is very funny! Around noon had come inside to start getting my lunch together and the phone did not stop ringing, important folk know just when to call me during the day to get me and not the answerphone!! Was about an hour with calling back and waiting for calls, and had to go upstairs to my office as I needed to access various files! Windows wide open, hot here today on the Welsh Borders! 1.15 pm and well aware that lunch was late not just for me but also for the indoor four-foots! Cats around my ankles, dogs outside in the shade and the occasional "Woof! Where are you!" Then suddenly, lots of barking out there! Well, could see that Dennis had just come up with the tractor in the field below me! Dogs and ponies down down at the gate, can see tails wagging through the jungle that is my garden at the moment! OK!! Phone rang again, answered the call, long one, important one, silence outside apart from the birds, Dennis had gone again! Then one solitary bark sounding from far away! Simmy! Quick check out of the window! Just Sunny and Barney gazing up at me, looking distinctly worried! Yelled out the window for Sim and got an answering bark sounding maybe down at the gate. So I go downstairs and outside calling him. Does not appear, call and call! Nothing, so go down to the gate and call again! Has he somehow got out and into the field, followed Dennis! Call again! Solitary Simmy bark, not sure from where, wind is swirling today, so difficult to know where it's coming from, sounds echoes around this hillside! Try, "Come On, Dinner! Instantly surrounded by three cats, Sunny, Barney and two ponies all looking expectant but no Simbo! Call again, one very plaintive howl sounding like from the back of the house! Well, I know the back gate up into the top field is open maybe he's gone up there, shut a gate on himself and can't get back! So up there I go calling him again, followed by an anxious rest of the Gang! Is silence from Sim! Search the top field, calling, other end of the garden calling, goats as inscrutable as ever! Simmy is Missing! My Sim, My Simbo, My Monster Pup!! Where is he? Heart sinking, return to the house, check every room in case, with everything wide open a door, maybe, has slammed shut and he's somewhere inside! Check every room, up and down. No, Simmy! Struggle into jeans and wellies, gonna have to go and search the wilder reaches! Go check the shed first! Through the nettles and brambles top of the hill! Hot now and very bothered! Hmmm! One last thought! I haven't checked the garage! Well, those of you who don't know this place, my house is built on a hillside on three different levels, the garage is underneath the house, top of part of the garage is the balcony from the French Windows in the Living Room you have seen on many of the pics on the Longlease Site! Yes, you guessed it!! Open up the up-swing door and Sim comes out looking so reproachful and hurt! Hmmm! (I had had a Tesco.Com grocery delivery just before noon and they back the van up the slope to the garage and unload into there. Have huge fridge/freezer down there, wine store, anything that is not needed immediately stays there and keeps cool! Had made two trips up the steps and round to the kitchen with stuff needed for the larder, was going back down to get my nice bit of steak for lunch that I had left on one side when I heard the phone ring! Had closed the door as the ponies were trying to nose in, they are on lawn-mower duty this week!) Do not say "Poor Simmy!" Shut in for an hour or more in an icy-cold, underground dungeon with no light! Guess who did Not have steak for lunch? No wonder he went quiet after I was calling "Come on Dinner!" Dinner was there for the taking!!! So Simbo is no longer missing! I had quick snack of BLT sandwich! Sunny and Barney got extra raw minced beef to make up! Cats, ponies, and goats got extra treats! Even the sheep got a handful of nuts. Sim had helped himself! He blames the ponies! Says they muscled him in there and he daren't come out! And suddenly, the door came down and he was plunged into darkness! Acoustics from that underground garage are very strange. When friend, Robin, was here and set up his guitar and amplifier stack in there, nearest neighbours, 1/2 mile down the hill, thought someone had pulled up outside with a radio blaring! I was preparing a meal in the kitchen and heard nothing!! All's well that ends well here at Longlease! Hmm! Think, I need to treat myself to a Very Special Meal tonight! And Matt just arrived to open a botle of wine, I deserve it! All Love, Jean, Sunny, Sim, Barney and the Longlease Gang http://bernese.biz PS. Better late than never, Pat & Hugh! Thought I would keep you in suspense!

Dear Pam and family... thank you so much for Tilly's story... my heart was breaking and then warmed up as tears rolled down my cheeks this morning as I read your tribute to her.
