Hi all, I have 3 Berner Boys, 2 have never drooled but my youngest boy drools and slobbers very much. And I saw that one post said that it could be loose flews. I agree. Ulysses has droopy flews and he is the one that drools..especially when I am making up his food then the drool can be a foot long...(smile) and then imagine what happens to that when he shakes...And yes it is good to keep drool rags at hand to wipe off that wonderful goop! cracked nose AND taking pills
Hi everyone, I find if one of my boys goes out for exercise his nose gets a lot of salt like substance on it that may make the nose appear to be cracked. I have learnt to always wash off the noses of my boys (with plain, clean water) when they get home and then they do not have this problem. And as for the questions about taking pills--I find giving them in a good dollup of peanut butter does the trick. The good news is that they have both been adopted now. I think it may be together as the update was posted together but no information on that is given. I have 3 male intact Bernese Mountain Dogs. Col aged 5 years, Toby aged 3 years and Ulysses aged 11.5 months. I have never had any aggression issues even with encounters whilst walking with other males and bitches. I try to avoid bitches that I know are in heat. The 2 oldest lift their legs and would mark every tree in the street if I let them. Col is probably the most sexually aware dog I have known..(smile)..just like his father.. Hi everyone, There were 2 ads in Sunday's Washington Post. 1)Bernese Mtn Dog-AKC, M Fs, pups, top quality, shots and wormed, beaut marked, $1800. Reserve for Xmas..301.831.5140 I called about these babies and here is the info I gleaned. Male is BIG swiss import. She breeds for the larger size as she prefers it to the US standard size. She likes the dispositions of her male/female. Both parents on premises. Both parents aged 4.5 years old. Also breeds Berner/Newfy mixes with the male. Welcome to come to the premises to view the pups/parents. Will ask you to spay females but not make you and only has limited registry..Doesn't want her babies to be bred. NOT VwBrands tested. Eyes are certified she said. Does NOT X-ray hips of parents as no litter she produced has had any problems so far. No health problems at all in her sire/dam. No contract. She did have another male but he had health problems so she sold him to a good home. Last litter born had problems, something to do with calcium levels. This is the first litter in a long time. 2) Bernese Mountain Dog-Pups, AKC, vet checked, nicely marked, $1000. 276.889.5056 I did call this # but keep getting answer machine. I left a message for the breeder to call me back. I'll keep you all informed. I hope this is useful or that I asked the right questions. Max and Zoe rescue
