Blow Drying

2003-08-03 Thread Sheila Dolan
I have read with interest the notes concerning blow drying our furry
friends. I have found over the years that if I do not dry them thoroughly I
end up with all sorts of skin infections. One was a dermtitus which spread
all over the body. My poor dog was miserable. In our area there have popped
up do it yourself dog salons. They have everything you need to include good
dryers, towels shampoo etc. Just bring the dog. Works great for me cause by
the time I bathe and groom three Berners there is plenty of hair rolling
every where. My opinion , for what it is worth, is to dry them thoroughly.
Their skin and coat will benefit. Have a great day, Sheila Dolan Buck,

Dog Cars

2003-07-18 Thread Sheila Dolan
Hi all, We have become a Honda family primarily because of our dogs. My
vehicle of choice is a CRV, my husband the Pilot. The CRV does fine to take
the dogs to close shows and outings. The back seat folds flat ,so you don't
have to be bothered with taking seats out etc. When it is folded the dogs
can lay their heads close by for an occasional scratch. On long trips,
carrying three Berners and a Shih-Tzu luggage has to be onthe top. It got a
little crowded and the seats are firm so it was a little more tiring. Has
all wheel drive and a convenient rear entry. The Pilot has a lot more room.
The seat also folds down, has 4 wheel drive, very comfortable and a
wonderful vehicle to drive. They get 25 MPH for the CRV and 20 for the
Pilot. LOng trips we go in the Pilot. The luggage fits nicely behind the
front seats.Crates and equipment are more of a challenge but we get most of
what I need in my CRV. Happy hunting, Sheila Dolan with 3 Berners wishing it
was winter

The Power of AAAUGH!!!!

2002-10-08 Thread Sheila Dolan

Finally here in the south the weather has cooled down and the dogs can enjoy
being outside without panting and being chased by bugs! This morning as I
sat reading the L , I heard a sound akin to major tree trimming, lots of
branch pulling and leaf rustling sounds. I looked out the side window to see
puppy Ona ,5 months old , attempting to prune the lower branches of a young
magnolia tree. I immediately gave her the AAAUGH . She froze and looked
around for me. Since she couldn't see me she went back to her pruning
exercise.Once more came the sound . Once more she froze with teeth attached
to the limb. She looked around , sat down , looked some more and continued
on with her project. Promptly another AAAUGH from the unknown source. This
time she moved away from the tree, sat down looked all around , looked back
at the tree, looked around again and then decided it wasn't worth doing and
took off for parts unknown elsewhere in the yard! I thought I would choke to
death laughing . She never did figure out where the sound came from but she
did understand that whatever she was doing it was time to halt.Puppies are
such fun! Have a great day everybody! Sheila Dolan w Buck Tess and Ona
