You found a need, and you took it on! For every older Berner, or for any
special needs Berner that has found a home because of your help, THANK YOU!!

Pat,

Thank you for the praise. My work has been a labor of love stemming from
having some extremely special dogs in our lives that were and are rescues.
Both our Murphy and Nic were such powerful forces in our lives that I felt a
need to give back on their behalf. They are now together at the bridge but
still are a very strong spirit presence. You are correct that the list has
been in operation for about 4 years now and I am proud to say that about 14
dogs have found new homes through this effort. I don't know the exact amount
due to a computer failure loosing all my early records. I also hope like you
that I don't become too busy as it will be a negative sign of things
happening in the breed but the best thing that could happen is that I get
lots of replies from people willing to take on an older dog. This way I can
refer new homes to dogs in need. Lately I have had several contacts but have
not had available homes in those areas or the right home for a dog. I am
happy to say that we helped with the 2 girls that Bruce Whiteside had in
Michigan and I was able to offer a great new home for them which I
understand has worked out well.

Thanks again for your praise but I am humbled by it as I do so little and
get so much in return.

Today in South Africa we had a Solar Eclipse which would have been great,
except that it was the only cloudy day for months! The Kruger Park was one
of the better places to see it and we watched on TV to see what will be the
last one until 2030 again in S Africa.

Stormie and the others were around but he seemed quite subdued and usually
would try repeatedly to get on my lap whilst we watch the telly. Today he
was quiet and laid at my feet, just wanting constant stroking. We live about
400 miles from the Kruger but nevertheless the sky darkened during the
eclipse just as it would in the early evening. It never got to be anywhere
near dark but I am wondering if this affected Stormie and would be
interested to hear of any other experiences. He was fine within a short
while and he seems to be healthy so I don't think he is sickening for
something.
