Re: [Bes-admins] ok so who bought one...

2011-04-25 Thread Jonathan Evenden
I actually asked one of the Product Managers at a RIM function in
February if the playbook would support Angry Birds. It was a half-joke
question, but apparently not to some people! (and the answer was, yes,
they are specifically working on getting it supported.)

We received forty the past week and none of the admins could get it to connect
to any of our wifi networks just to activate the damn thing.

Re: [Bes-admins] ok so who bought one...

2011-04-22 Thread Eggan, Mark
And to address the original question of 'from an admin's point of
view'--there's not much to administer with it. there's no BES
integration.

This is exactly why we are not getting one. We have a few iPads in our
environment (using Good Technology as the conduit to Exchange) and are
pleasantly surprised with iPads. This was released too soon in an
attempt to get into 'slate' market. Mistake on RIM...no native email
integration without bridging, no BES integration.

I can see that POV on those devices. The thing about the Playbook is I
am not really sure of the purpose as it currently stands. Bridge makes
it effectively a bigger touch screen version of my BlackBerry. That I
have to have with me anyway to use Bridge. And which I can more quickly
reply to an email or add a contact at this point because I've used it
for so long.
So that makes the Playbook a 7 inch touch screen internet browser.

Many of its hardware features just aren't enabled because there aren't

construction sites.

The iPad is polished, but can be frustrating for IT, accostomed to
Windows, Linux and Android, because Apple controls everything. Apple
even
turns off remote admin features at whim.
