order of masters IP addresses in slave/stub zone?

2015-02-25 Thread Hillary Nelson
I was asked to add some backup master IP addresses to a slave zone file for
some HCP system, but those IPs not active and can't do zone transfer until
system failover.

My question is, does the order of the master ip list matters, so named
always tries
first ones until it fails tries next one? Or named pick the IP from the
list randomly to do zone transfer?

Thanks!
Hillary

Have question using bind9 for local dns proxy

2015-02-25 Thread Junyoung Park
hello.

i try to configure local proxy views based authoritative DNS server.

clients PC (dns server x.x.x.x)
local GW -- ISP
  |
  |
 local dns proxy server

do iptables redirect dns port(53) to local for local proxy.

In local dns proxy server internal view config is...,

view "internal" {
  match-clients { acl internal; };
  recursion yes;

   zone "."  {
type hint;
file "named.ca";
};
zone "test.com" {
 type master;
 file "db.test";
 };
};

In this situation,
if incoming query is "example.com" then queries will going to root dns
server.

but i want to send query to clients original dns server instead of root ns.
(if client pc DNS server set 8.8.8.8, i want to send 8.8.8.8 instead
of root dns servers)
(i can't use forward / forwarders options because clinets PC DNS
server setting is different each other,
therfore cannot fix forward ip address.)

Is there some way to solve the situation?
(bind have forward option original destinaion automacally?)

thanks...
(I feel sorry... that i have poor english skills...)

RE: Guidlines

2015-02-25 Thread CHAMARTHI, MURTHY
Creating db file so combersome for starters,use h2n tool after you install bind
rpms on your server. H2n tool is good for first time db file build time,
lateron you can use these db files for add/remove host records.

BIND9 statistics

2015-02-25 Thread 김도원
Hello,

In BIND8, I can find statistics every hour in the log file (see here below)
It was the default for BIND8
But in BIND9 I do not find same statistics in the log file.
I know statistics-channels usage in named.conf or rndc stats with dump
statistics file I define with statistics-file statement.

I am curious why statistics every hour is not default in BIND9
Does BIND9 have performance issue or something else?
