2022-06-09 Thread Hervé Pagès
Hi Jim,

The download stats for data-experiment packages and workflows are
temporary unavailable. We're aware of the issue and have been working on
it. If all goes well they'll become available again soon: in the next 12
hours for data-experiment, and in the next 24 hours for workflows..

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best,

2021-03-10 Thread Hervé Pagès

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

The script that we use to compute the stats had problems accessing the
latest CloudFront log files on S3, resulting in package downloads from
the last few days being ignored. This is now repaired and hopefully the
stats will get updated tomorrow with the full counts.

Re: [Bioc-devel] download stats

2017-08-07 Thread Obenchain, Valerie
These are now fixed.

The problem started when I downsized the EC2 instance the download stats run on
from t2.medium to t2.small. The machine was I/O bound and the scripts did not
have enough time to complete before the next one started.

The 't' family of instances run on shared hardware and it's well documented
that they are burstable wrt CPU usage. In general, IOPs are determined by the
size and type of EBS back-end storage so I did not expect to see a difference
in IOPs when changing the instance type (EBS back-end was untouched). After
some digging, it appears AWS is also limiting disk I/O for this family because
it is a shared instance. Network throughput is throttled in a manner similar to
how they throttle CPU usage. So in this case it looks like it's the instance
type and not the back-end storage causing the problem.

AWS is ambiguous about network throughput for the 't' family stating only High,
Medium and Low instead of providing numbers. Finding the right combination of
minimal but sufficient resources can be a challenge. The download stats should
once again have the resources they need. Sorry for any inconvenience this
switch around caused.

Valerie

Re: [Bioc-devel] download stats

2016-11-29 Thread Hervé Pagès

Hi Antonio,

Yes the stats for November look low compared to the previous months.
Looks like we'll hardly hit the 3 distinct IPs for the whole
Bioconductor software repository. Could be genuine though. I'll check
what's going on.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention,
H.

Dear all,
Dear Hervè,

I noted something strange with the download stats in November if you
consider even default Bioconductor packages (*BiocInstaller* (26209)
, *BiocGenerics*
(18864)
, *IRanges* (18129)
 etc

they are showing about 50% of the download stats compared to other
months of the year.

I know my post is similar to one posted by Kasper indeed I had the same
sensation maybe because there is Christmas atmosphere around.
Therefore if I'm not mistaken or I lost some news about the stats how
Kasper did know already about this issue 3 weeks ago? ;-)

@Hervè please when you have time can you check them?

Thank you in advance.
Best,
Antonio

Re: [Bioc-devel] download stats

2016-11-08 Thread Hervé Pagès

Hi Kasper,

The download stats just got updated:

  http://bioconductor.org/packages/stats/

They are updated twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday between 8
and 9 AM PST. Note that because of how the download log files are
generated and propagated to the machine where the stats are computed,
and because of the time it takes to generate the stats reports for
all the packages, the current stats don't take into account the
downloads that happened during the last 24 hours (more or less).

Cheers,
H.

It was pointed out to me that the (sub) heading on the page tells me that
the script for counting downloads was last run Nov 4th, explaining the
discrepancy.

[Bioc-devel] download stats

2016-11-08 Thread Kasper Daniel Hansen
Is there something wrong with the download stats in November. All the
packages I look at have lost about 85-90% compared to other months of the
year:

Best,
