 I've been using xsane for quite a while, but not frequently.  For my
 modest needs it still works fine. We need to see what the overhead is for
 simple scan and what its features are like.

 It seems that Upstream has stopped working on XSane, per Debian.

 The XSane domain is now unavailable as well. It's been moved to GitLab as
 of this year, but no development in 6 years.

 I think we should replace this with GNOME's Simple Scan. It'll have to be
 upgraded at new minor versions (next is 3.34 in September) like any GNOME
 program, but it should be cleaner and work better with what we have.

 CVE-2019-13050

 From that article, mitigations as per upstream:

 As per upstream: High-risk users should stop using the key server network
 immediately.

 Open ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf in a text editor. Ensure there is no line starting
 with key server. If there is, remove it.
 Open ~/.gnupg/dirmngr.conf in a text editor. Add the line keyserver
 hkps://keys.openpgp.org to the end of it.

 I'm unclear if we ought to be modifying our install (do we need to run
 dirmngr as a daemon?) or our instructions for configuring it - I don't
 have any ~/.gnupg/dirmngr.conf



 Noteworthy changes in version 2.2.17
 

   * gpg: Ignore all key-signatures received from keyservers.  This
 change is required to mitigate a DoS due to keys flooded with
 faked key-signatures.  The old behaviour can be achieved by adding
   keyserver-options no-self-sigs-only,no-import-clean
 to your gpg.conf.  [#4607]

   * gpg: If an imported keyblocks is too large to be stored in the
 keybox (pubring.kbx) do not error out but fallback to an import
 using the options "self-sigs-only,import-clean".  [#4591]

   * gpg: New command --locate-external-key which can be used to
 refresh keys from the Web Key Directory or via other methods
 configured with --auto-key-locate.

   * gpg: New import option "self-sigs-only".

 Release Notes

   This release of GParted includes a significant undertaking to
   migrate the code base from gtkmm2 to gtkmm3 (our GTK3 port).  Thanks
   go to Luca Bacci and Mike Fleetwood for making this happen.

   With this major change we bump up the major version number.  This
   1.0.0 release is not meant to indicate that GParted is more stable
   or less stable than before.  Instead it means that GParted now

 New reporting feature in about:addons allows you to report

 Windows Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) update download
 support, which allows Firefox update downloads to continue when Firefox is
 closed.

 Fixed

 Various security fixes (At the moment, the latest details there are
 for 67.0.4, but that might get updated later)

 Local files can no longer access other files in the same directory.
 (There is a report today at The Register saying a poc worked on 67.0.4,
 and that mozilla responded that a patch would be supplied in a few days.
 This was not initially fixed because it *might* break local html
 documentation.)
