acl, attr and a /usr separate partition

2010-12-06 Thread Juan Antonio Moreno Carmona
Hi:
I have installed a fresh lfs svn-20101118 version. Then, I have installed,
in this order, openssl, gpm and lynx. Well, the system boots ok, no problem.
Now, I want to try attr and acl. I installed them and reinstalled coreutils.
The system no boots anymore and hangs up in the init process, I can´t reach
the log in screen.
The last lines on the console are:

INIT: version 2.88 booting
INIT: entering runlevel: 3

After several days and one more installation, I found the solution. I have a
/usr separate partition and, now, several coreutils programs depends on
libacl and libattr. I don't know yet which coreutils program is the culprit
but if I copy the attr and acl libs in /lib, the system boots ok again.

Which's the coreutils program that depends on libacl and libattr and run in
the very early process of init, I don't know.

Regards.

There was a discussion about adding a warning to the book about this

As well as a current ticket (#2999) in the Trac system to actually do it.
