Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating a Gmail Account (Was this discussedbefore?)

2012-11-24 Thread Mujtaba Merchant
Here you go with some quick instructions on creating a gmail account

NOTE: the same username and password can be used on all your google
accounts, i.e. youtube, google maps, google documents etc.

1. Go to www.gmail.com
2. Click enter on the link: Create an account
3. On the next page fill out the form with appropriate details requested
Edit boxes by typing the fields, Check boxes by space barring on them, list
boxes and combo boxes, you know how they need to be done
4. There will be a challentge in filling the username field, if the username
already exists it will tell you that it does, and give you combinations of
usernames you may want to choose - use the up and down arrow keys to toggle
the options, enter to select, if they are not what you wish you need to type
in a new one again in the text box, check again if the username is not
already taken.
5. Use the audio captcha, or request a phone verification
6. Check the checkboxes and hit enter on the next button

Sorry did not get further from this as I did not want to create another
gmail account. If you run into any mess, mail me back at: mujta...@gmail.com

Cheers!

[Blind-Computing] IE9,

2012-11-24 Thread david
good morning everyone.

in the past few days, my wife's computer takes forever to load internet
pages.

I have done a system restore,

uninstalled IE9 and did a reinstall,

I tried the microsoft fixit tool still no luck. I even went as far as
resetting the netgear router. I should add, after uninstalling IE9, IE8 was
available, however, yield the same result, very slow to load internet pages.

for example, if I try to load her homepage, google.com

it takes at least 5 minutes.

does anyone have any thoughts regarding this issue?

everything else on her computer works fine.

by the way, all of our computers are on a network, her's is the only one
which can't load the internet without waiting forever.

hopefully someone will have a few suggestions short of doing a reload of
windows.

It is simple to do with Outlook Express.

Recently some friends told me they want to do this also but are using Outlook.

I have never been able to figure out how to do embedding files with Outlook.

Yes, and if you don't know how to use Cleaner, it will wipe everything
passwords, cookies etc, did that once, never took the time or had a well
enough done explanation to keep it from happening again, not going looking
all over the computer for files I don't want it to touch, and removed it
before I did that sort of damage again, it was especially bad when I lost my
bank info and had to wait for weeks for my husband to get home from the
hospital so I could e-mail the code to him he read it to me and me to get it
in the proper place. Needs to be written in plain English, one needs to be
extremely careful using it, I won't ever let it do my tem files again or my

You all can laugh, but making it do as I needed was not straightforward, may
never be.

Is there anyone who can understand the Google audio CAPTCHA? Honestly, we
spent forever trying to hear it one afternoon, never got it write and no one
seemed to be answering the phone the one time we tried. I don't play phone
tag well.
Partial hearing loss in the ear most of you use on the phone, can't seem to
hold it on the opposite shoulder while I am typing so calling is my absolute
last resort and usually I just forget what it was I may have been trying to
do rather than call. I hate CAPTCHA! Google's in my opinion is one of the
worst I have heard and my husband said he can't read it either.

I would not use Google at all any longer, if I were not required to do so at
work. They play at accessibility but don't take it seriously, just look at
all the clutter on the home page.

if you can't tell her that you have been infested with an address book
steeling malware and have them believe you enough to do some real checking
on the matter I would simply start forwarding the mail to them.

as to what you do about it, there are things such as filters that can auto
delete it, you can gather several of them up and pass them to your ISP so
they can pull out the big guns and deal with it, you can get a spam
filtering program for your computer, so on and so forth.

if you use outlook, in the same area that you block an email address, you
can block a domain so no one using that domain can email to you and make it
through

I have instructions here for outlook 2003, and others have the same sort of
thing for newer office outlooks.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Can Embedding files into messages be done inOutlook?

2012-11-24 Thread From the Desk of Mr. Holland

Exactly what do you mean by embedding files in the first place?

If you mean inserting a file or files as attachments, certainly! You need
to use the Insert menu.

If you mean to have the contents of a file appear inline with the
remainder message, I suppose it depends on the type of file being the
source. I thought Outlook (not Outlook Express) provided an option to use
MS-Word as the tool of composition; in that case any file you can embed into
a Word document would likewise be the same for Outlook.

You could always alter your composition tool to Outlook just for any
messages you want to do this with, then set it back as it had been
previously.

their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they
really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of

Exactly what do you mean by embedding files in the first place?

If you mean inserting a file or files as attachments, certainly! You need
to use the Insert menu.

If you mean to have the contents of a file appear inline with the
remainder message, I suppose it depends on the type of file being the
source. I thought Outlook (not Outlook Express) provided an option to use
MS-Word as the tool of composition; in that case any file you can embed into
a Word document would likewise be the same for Outlook.

You could always alter your composition tool to Outlook just for any
messages you want to do this with, then set it back as it had been

First clear all the temporary files on your computer, they simply hog
memory. To do this launch the run dialog box: Windows Key + R
In the dialog box type %temp%, hit the enter key, this should open the
 temporary files folder
Select all the files in this folder by pressing Control + A
Then press Shift + Delete to delete all the files
Click yes to all if prompted Do you want to delete multiple files

NOTE: Some temporary files may not be deleted as they may be in use,

Hi Rose,

You are absolutely correct, it is no laughing matter! CCleaner is very
difficult to navigate when checking or unchecking your options in the tree
view of what you would like to have cleaned or not cleaned. I spent several
hours 1 day trying to label the graphics to see if that would help , it did
not! I have contacted CCleaner many times to complain about its lack of
accessibility for people using Jaws. I know you can navigate the tree view
options using the Jaws cursor but, that can be very tedious time
consuming. It is an excellent program I use it regularly but, the initial
set-up can be frustrating but, once it is set-up the way you want it, you
never have to do it again even after updating, at least I haven't had to
make any changes after an update.
Take care.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Imbedding Extracting Sounds In Outlook Express, Steps

2012-11-24 Thread Mike B.
Hi Bob,

Below is a link to extract imbedded sounds below that are the steps to
imbed a background sound using Outlook Express:

Extracting An Imbedded Sound From A Message:

http://www.jaws-users.com/text/email/OutlookExpress/ExtractingAnImbeddedSound.html

Adding a music file as a background in an EMail message.

This feature is only available in Outlook Express, that I am aware of
anyways.

1. Open a new message. Put in the recipients address, subject and any
message you may want to include.

2. Go to the format menu, alt o.

3. Arrow down to the background menu, or type the letter B. The Rich Text
(HTML) box must also be checked in this menu.

4. Arrow down to sound, or type the letter s.

5. Tab to browse and press spacebar, tab to Look In to arrow up or down to
find your folder where your sound file is kept.

6. Once you find the file you want to add, press enter on the file name.

7. Tab to Play Sound, make sure this box is checked. Then tab to, repeat
settings. You can choose to just play the sound 1 time, or play the sound
continuously
by pressing your up arrow to choose how many times you want the sound file
to play when the person opens the email

8. Tab to OK and press enter.

9. Send the message as you normally would.

Take care.

 Mr. Holland,

In Outlook Express you can imbed a sound file into an email. What that
 will
do is for instance, let's say it's your birthday I want to send you an
email for your birthday. Well, I can imbed a birthday song into the email

if your email client allows this, the birthday song will play when you
 open
the email to read it. This isn't an attachment but imbedded. But, this
will only work if you are reading your email in HTMl. If you take 1 of
these emails with an imbedded sound reading it in HTML change the
setting to read in plain text, this imbedded sound will not play but, the
imbedded sound in the HTMl email now becomes an attachment in the plain
 text
email. I don't know what other email clients the imbedded sound feature
will work in but, it sure is a cool feature of Outlook Express

If I have in any way screwed up the explanation of how imbedded sounds
 work,
someone please straighten me my explanation out!.
 Take care.

Is there anyone who can understand the Google audio CAPTCHA? Honestly, we
spent forever trying to hear it one afternoon, never got it write and no one

tag well.
Partial hearing loss in the ear most of you use on the phone, can't seem to
hold it on the opposite shoulder while I am typing so calling is my absolute

worst I have heard and my husband said he can't read it either.

I would not use Google at all any longer, if I were not required to do so at

Cheers!

 Mr.

 Take care.
 Mike

 doneinOutlook?

Exactly what do you mean by embedding files in the first place?

If you mean inserting a file or files as attachments, certainly! You need
 to use the Insert menu.

If you mean to have the contents of a file appear inline with the
remainder message, I suppose it depends on the type of file being the
source. I thought Outlook (not Outlook Express) provided an option to use
MS-Word as the tool of composition; in that case any file you can embed
 into
a Word document would likewise be the same for Outlook.

You could always alter your composition tool to Outlook just for any
messages you want to do this with, then set it back as it had been
 previously.
