Re: [Blind-Computing] AVG 9

2009-12-04 Thread rafrost

Hi,
I surely wish I could help. I'm running with the latest build of Jaws under
windows vista home premium and have never encountered such a window as you
and others have described.
I just wanted to state that it might not be necessarily to abandon AVG on
mass as the affliction doesn't seem to happen everywhere. Sorry I can't
help more.

Robin,

Please tell me how that web browser is not popping up on your computer?
I am wondering if it has anything to do with what operating system is
running. I am still on xp pro or the window's media 2005 which according
to FS it's considered to be xp pro.
Even though AVG said v/9 works still with xp I can't seem to get rid of
this thing.

oh boy Patricia, I didn't realize you laid out money for it. I'm kind of
sorry you did. I really don't know how to rid yourself of the pop up
issue. Others here probably do, but that's why I dumped it. I hope
someone is more knowledgeable than I am. I am stumbling around still
trying to get a handle on windows 7. smile.

Thanks Jim, please post it. This AVG 9 however, isn't the free version,
but guess it doesn't matter.

Patricia, I have been playing with AVG, and finally switched to
Microsoft essentials. It in my opinion works just as well as the free
edition of AVG does, and I think better. If you want the direct link
to it, I can post it to you. Give it a try. I rethink you might like
it.

I wanted to share this bit of info regarding that web browser
window that pops up randomally while I'm working, and it forces me to
press the escape key and then I have to alt tab back to my window.

I have tried to uncheck everything I felt I could within AVG 9 that
could pertain to this in hopes it would stop, but it just continued..

So I enabled the pop up in internet explorer and even though this
thing still pops up on me, now with that enabled, I can press the
escape key only and I'm back where I was before it appeared.

Hope this might be helpful to anyone else using AVG 9.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Question about Weather aloud

2009-08-20 Thread rafrost

Hi,
When in the main window of the program if you select show global locations
then choose United States of America you'll see two choices one that shows
locations in list form and one that allows you to search by zip code. I
hope this helps.

I just installed Weather aloud on a second computer and as it did when I
installed it on the first computer, it never gave me a place to put in a
zip
code for my city. I've checked through the menus and can't find a place
to

put in my zip code.

Can anyone help me with this? I don't want any of the cities listed.

Hi list,
I just checked my version. this can be found by going into 'help' and then
the version on the system is listed under 'about Mozilla Firefox'. Anyway
the version I am running is 3.0.8, which should be the current one?

I think you need to update chris. It appears that I have 3.5. At least
that's what I think this means. CLR 3.5.30729) I know I've gotten
updates
since I upgraded to 3.0 and I believe the last version I saw in the
update
window was 3.5. As far as accessibility, it seems to be better than
ever.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Problem With Radio Shack Web Site and IE 8

2009-03-27 Thread rafrost

Hi,
I'm running Jaws 10 with IE 8 under windows vista and radioshack.com is
working just fine as can be here.
though I myself did run into a slight difficulty at the Sovereign Bank
online banking site but it is Sovereign's problem with IE 8 and they do know
about it. I just thought I'd mention it here in case any listers also bank
there. It works fine with Fire fox and a fix for that site any way should
be forth coming within days. But as I said Radio shack is performing fine
here.

Hope this helps.

Well, just when I thought everything was peachy keen with IE 8, I just
tried to use it to access the Radio Shack home page, only to get a weird
error message that IE was unable to load the page. I had no trouble
loading it using Firefox, and never had any problem with this site using
IE 7. I would appreciate it if anyone else using IE 8 could try to access
this web site and explain what's going on. Thanks. Gerald
