Re: [BlindHandyMan] Plug in alarms

2006-09-30 Thread Lee A. Stone

Hailley, I would want a alarm notice to tell me if the power was off for
the house.. I have an alarm which is on my battery back up sump pump.
however that pump will not run unless the water is a bit high. I know I
can move that alarm to pump water lower but would rather not. I am
lucky enough to have a large 6500 auto key start generator but I need
to be outside to do that. I am thinking if I had a loud alarm in the
bedroom that would sound a piercing sound for lack of power. then I
could be sometimes minutes ahead of a problem . also what I'd like to do
is to set off a pre recorded tape or cd of all sorts of alarm sounds.
If you listened to some old or maybe even some newer movies which had
sounds like you would hear on a Navy sub , battleship or carrier.
.sounds for a General alarm or this is not a drill. so I am a bit out
there but it sounds neat. In our house water from rains or fast melting
snow is our worst enemy. we have most of the tools for protection and
want to add a couple more. the alarm being the foremost.Lee

[BlindHandyMan] Plug in alarms

2006-09-29 Thread Lee A. Stone

I think we discussed this a couple of years ago here on the list , but I
am looking for a plug in loud alarm which would tell me if there is a
power failure in the system. I do have one emergency sump pump which
has a pretty good sounding alarm if I am awake, however I am thinking
of something I might plug into a bedroom wall outlet. thanksLee

 For your house.
How many power sources do you have at your home?
 I only have one.
I keep my unit in our hallway, you can hear it any where in the house.
I have a surge protector for my computer, which beeps when loss of power,
 it
also has a battery in it.
This is also good if a breaker trips.

Is this for detecting power outage for your house or for specific items
within your house or it is for the computer?
