The power company bills by kilowatt hours. So if the heater draws 3000 watts,
that is 3 kilowatts an hour. The fun part will be finding out what the local
power company charges for a KWH. It is in the bill you receive each month.
Usually somewhere between 7 and 20 cents per hour.

[BlindHandyMan] quartz infrared heaters

2009-01-16 Thread Terry Klarich
Hello all:

I needed to purchase a heater for my shop. I was looking at a couple of
options; but, couldn't decide. After learning about
quartz infrared heaters on this list, I did the research. And decided, for my
application, this heater would work the best.

So, I ordered one from grainger along with a thermostat. The unit runs on
240V, is 53 long. It looks like a florescent light
fixture. I Hung above my work bench. The thermostat mounts in a standard 2x4
box. I am extremely happy with how it works.

Thanks to the list. I appreciate all the good info.

The list was $178.00. However, my employer has an account with grainger and do
a lot of business with them evidently. My cost was
significently less than that.

The grainger part number is 1UCR1. You can look it up on grainger.com if you
want. I picked this one because it is cieling
mountable and came with the cord. I just mounted a 2x4 box next to the heater
on the cieling. That way I can unplug it on those
summer days.

The amperage is the same but this is a 220 volt heater generating 3000 Watts.
the other one generated 1500 Watts. This one should cost darn close to twice as
much to operate than your old one but it will, and apparently does generate
twice as much heat.

They charge by the kilowatt hour. Each hour the heater runs it consumes 3
kilowatt hours. Of course when the thermostat is satisfied it turns off and
draws no kilowatts. Here I believe we pay 4.5 cents per KWh so it would cost me
15 cents an hour. Last night it went down to minus 34C with a high this
afternoon of 25C so I expect a heater like that would cost me about $3.24 per
day but 3 KWh wouldn't heat much under these conditions.

RJ, I believe the brand you speak of is the leader in this quartz infrared

I just did a search and was interested to discover that this sort of heating
device has been widely used in industry for heat processing like thermal
molding and vacuum forming and heating metallic parts for coating or burning
the lubricant off of extruded wire insulation and all sorts. The primary
preferred use is to be able to come up to full temperature quickly and fall
off again quickly when not in use. A controller can turn the lamps on just
in time for some or other part of the process and the radiation falls back
to about 5% within a couple of seconds of turning them off.

The technology is used for many other things too, direct radiation for spot
heating in large areas like hangers and warehouses or to keep snow and ice
clear from outdoor areas or even spot heating of a part of a patio like over
the barbecue.

This refers to the element technology only, not that particular
configuration in the Edinpure device.

While electric infrared heating is far from new, I had never thought of
using it in those ways.

the 500 sq ft. the deluxe model, which I forgot the name that heat 1000
 sq
ft is $447, and it has a wood cabinet. Go to google and type in Edenpure
heaters and take your choice of where you would like to purchase the
 heater.
Even Amazon has one up for bid.
 Good luck
 P. S. the last bid on Amazon was $305 and about two days to go.

Be absolutely sure not to handle the quartz bulbs with your bear hands. The

Ralph, if this is the same unit I just bought, it uses four bulbs to
generate heat. Also, when you get it, you're going to have to take the
thing apart to install the bulbs which are in a coregated box inside the
unit. You can probably figure it out, but if not, let me know since I
 just did the same thing.

There is at least one other manufacturer of quartz home space heaters.
 We
just ordered a Sun Twin which is a 1500 watt unit with oak Vanier
 cabinet.
It retails for about $550 but we bought our for $450 on EBay. If
 there's
any interest I can post after we use it some.

We were deciding between the Sun Twin and a unit produced by Solar
 Cloud.
The Solar Cloud heater used infrared bulbs instead of the quartz. As I
researched I couldn't find much that would say the quartz is superior
 to the
infrared. I did find that quartz heaters have a lot of industrial
 uses.

   Hi Ed
This is what I found out about the heater
   Q. What is the origin of this amazing heating element in the
 EdenPURET
   Heater?
   A. This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a
 man
   named
John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to
 heat.
   Jones
had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured
 copper
near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that
 goes
   through
an extensive heating process to give it special properties.

   EdenPURET Quartz Infrared Portable Heater

After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the
 sheet
   of
copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the
 furnace
   was
no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the
 heat
stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room.

Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He
 formed
   a
company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But
 Jones
   had
   a
number of children and he did not want a heating source that would
 cause
   a
fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon
 monoxide
   or
   radiation.
He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long
 story
   short,
through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a
   heating
source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes.

   Q. What advantages does infrared quartz tube heating source have
 over
   other
   heating source products?

   A. John Jones designed his heating source around the three most
 important
consumer benefits: economy, comfort, and safety. The final
 development of
   this
infrared quartz heat source cannot be matched by any other heating
 system
   in
the world. In the EdenPURE system, electricity is used to generate
   infrared

2006-10-16 Thread Edward Przybylek
Hi Terry,

I'm currently looking into two units. They are the EdenPure and the
SunTwin. They range in price from about $300 for units capable of
heating an area about 500 square feet to $400 - $450 for units that
can heat an area about 1000 to 1200 square feet. I've looked at some
other units but I think one of these heaters is what I'll end up
buying. Hope this helps.

Take care,

 Hi Ed
This is what I found out about the heater
 Q. What is the origin of this amazing heating element in the EdenPURET
 Heater?
 A. This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a man
 named
John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to heat.
 Jones
had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured copper
near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that goes
 through
an extensive heating process to give it special properties.

 EdenPURET Quartz Infrared Portable Heater

After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet
 of
copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace
 was
no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat
stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room.

Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed
 a
company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones
 had
 a
number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause
 a
fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide
 or
 radiation.
He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long story
 short,
through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a
 heating
source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes.

 Q. What advantages does infrared quartz tube heating source have over
 other
 heating source products?

 A. John Jones designed his heating source around the three most important
consumer benefits: economy, comfort, and safety. The final development of
 this
infrared quartz heat source cannot be matched by any other heating system
 in
the world. In the EdenPURE system, electricity is used to generate
 infrared
light which, in turn, creates a very safe heat. Infrared is the safest
 form
of heat because it does not create carbon monoxide or harmful radiation.

And, most importantly, infrared heat does not reach a burning
 temperature.
After a great deal of research and development, very efficient infrared
 heat
chambers were developed that utilize three unique patented solid copper
 heat
exchangers in one EdenPURE Heater. Over 5 years of research, development
 and
real life field testing stand behind this heat source. It has now worked
 in
residential and commercial applications worldwide for over 25 years.

 Q. Why is it that this quartz infrared heating source uses less energy to
 create heat than other sources?

 A. Actually, there is more than one reason. One of the primary reasons is
that heat at combustion level, which is what all other heat sources use,
 causes
the heat to instantly rise to the ceiling. Therefore, the heat is not
 evenly
distributed, causing a very inefficient and uncomfortable heat source.

The EdenPURE Quartz Infrared Portable Heater does not use burning heat.
 Once
the heat exchanger absorbs the infrared heat, it exhales the heat into
 the
living area which is carried by the existing humidity in the air. This
causes the heat to travel rapidly and evenly throughout a room. In actual
 studies,
photos using infrared lighting demonstrated that the heat was almost
perfectly even from floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall. The EdenPURE
 Quartz
 Infrared
efficiency is based on the distribution of energized air, not on just fan
movement. This heat is coined as soft heat due to how comfortable it
 is.

 Q. What are the other disadvantages of combustion heat sources?

 A. Heat sources that are above the burning level have many unhealthy side
effects. One of these is that it creates dry, irritating indoor air. It
 also
 burns
a great deal of oxygen in the air. If you remember, when you sit in front
 of
a fireplace or a portable heater or close to a heat source, you will
 remember
yawning. This is because you are not getting enough oxygen.

This dry irritating heat and lack of oxygen dries out sinuses and mucus
 in
the throat, and makes people susceptible to disease. The lack of oxygen
 causes
fatigue. Also, many combustible heat sources produce carbon monoxide,
 static
 cling, and some produce radiation.

 Q. So you're saying that children or pets can come up to this unit and
 touch
 it and not be harmed?

 A. That is absolutely correct. As a matter of fact, pets are actually
 drawn
to this heat because it is a natural source of heat, just like the sun
 heats
the earth. Animals are much more instinctive than humans. This heat

the cost of running 1500 watts to warm about 1000 square feet of our house

However, propane is down from about $1.80 last winter to about $1.20 right

I find the hype on this device a little hard to read.

The temperature of a room or any space is a function of how fast and far the

molecules of air are moving. This takes a fixed amount of energy. The
structure of the building, the furniture and other contents of the space all

are made up of molecules which vibrate and the faster and further they move,

the hotter things will be.

Now electricity moves through a conductor more or less at the speed of
light. When it meets resistance it gives off energy. Typically energy is
released as sound, various forms of electromagnetic radiation such as light,

heat, magnetism often used to perform movement.

Heating with electricity is pretty efficient because the electricity can be
converted directly into various forms of heat. The electromagnetic radiation

can be pretty well at any point along the range from very long waves such as

long wave radio, up through short wave, UHF, VHF, Microwaves, the spectrum
of infrared into the light range and beyond ultraviolet through x-rays up
through gamma and alpha radiation.

Water absorbs radio frequency radiation pretty well but it takes some
circuitry to produce that sort of energy. Short waves have been used for a
very long time for therapeutic heat and in the operating room for
cauterizing for example. Shorter radio waves in what is now known as the
microwave range are used to efficiently heat water in foods as in cooking
although that was not the original purpose, it was discovered in the '40s as

a side effect of radar radiation, it was not until the invention of the
magnetron tube by, I believe the British that it was possible to reliably
produce radio frequency wave lengths in that range. We could heat ourselves
fairly efficiently with microwaves if we were willing to sit in the directed

beam of a device but the room around us would not warm and there are other
risks.

This brings us to the light radiation wave lengths.

While we cannot see infrared light it is there. You can feel it coming off
your stove top when the elements are on. Infrared radiation will pass
through optically clear materials such as glass and air, well mostly it
will. It doesn't generate heat very much until it is absorbed by another
substance. Like light, it can be absorbed and it can be reflected. It is
mostly the infrared we feel in the sun, why we can feel heat through a glass

window while the window does not get warm.

Some of you will be familiar with those radiant heaters which glow red and
when the reflector concentrates the light at you, you get warm even if
surrounding you is cool.

For these to actually heat a room the infrared has to be absorbed by
something then that heat transferred to the air by convection or conduction.

Air, coming into contact with such a substance will become excited, the
molecules will jump about more and it warms up.

So, an infrared heater may warm you up or parts of your room up, eventually
the entire room by shining on stuff and being absorbed causing the molecules

of that stuff, be it you or a table to begin jumping about and causing air
in contact with that stuff to get excited too.

Inside a heater, the infrared bulbs radiate this low red light which is
absorbed by some or other material which in turn gets hot and excites air in

it's vicinity warming that air which will be moved or circulated either by
convection or with a fan to warm more air and so on.

Now here is the thing! You can heat oil inside of a panel directly with an
element and as that panel heats up it will radiate some infrared and it will

warm up air touching it through conduction which will then rise and heat air

it contacts through convection. Either way, 1500 watts of electricity will
convert into a fixed amount of heat, some methods will be a little more
direct than others but the efficiency now is pretty well defined.

You can put ten kilowatts into a brick and the brick will cool over some
period of time but that isn't free energy as it cools, you put in a lot of
energy to raise the temperature of that mass so it takes some time for that
energy to defuse. The same ten kilowatts applied more slowly over a longer
period of time will keep you as warm.

Now there may be many reasons to purchase one particular type of electric
heater but these days the efficiency will be about

There is no doubt at all that it will produce heat and quite possibly even a
little better than other 1500 watt heaters but even according to these
figures it is likely to be inadequate.

Well insulated they recommend 32000 BTU per thousand square feet. At 3.413
BTU per Watt it would require 9375.9156 Watts and that heater is 1500 so, in
a well insulated thousand square foot home it would require 6.25 1500 Watt
heaters. Either that or it is over 6 times as efficient at squeezing out
heat energy from a watt.

In the spring and fall these heaters can certainly be enough to take the
chill out of a room as a supplement heater and I hope you are happy with it.
I just think that anyone expecting a 1500 watt heater to keep an entire home
warm even with minimal heating requirements will be disappointed. Above all
I deplore that sort of selling technique. It feels unfair to me.

In another life, I used to lease space heating equipment on construction
jobs. If memory serves, the formula we used was:

Square feet x 1.4 x degrees F. between ambient temperature and desired
temperature.

So, if we had 800 square feet, and we wanted to maintain 50 degrees of
difference, we'd need 56,000 BTUs. Again, this was years back, and a
lot of scotch has flowed since then, but I believe the formula's right.
Since there are 21,591 BTUs in a pound of propane, you'd be burning
about 2.6 pounds per hour maintaining that.

I agree that it's not going to be possible to use one of these as
anything more than a supplement in an already heated home.

Well insulated they recommend 32000 BTU per thousand square feet. At
3.413
BTU per Watt it would require 9375.9156 Watts and that heater is 1500
so, in
a well insulated thousand square foot home it would require 6.25 1500

heat energy from a watt.

In the spring and fall these heaters can certainly be enough to take the

I just think that anyone expecting a 1500 watt heater to keep an entire

A thousand square feet is a modest little house size. I quite simply

believe it could be heated with 1500 watts. That is only a little more
energy than your toaster or electric kettle or iron or hair drier

There are cars which the kids cruise around our lake in the middle of

Now if you only need to keep the building a couple of degrees above

 that

 won't
take up any more space than it already does.

Dale, there are interesting cmplications to all of this too.

First, propane turns into a liquid at -40, so the tanks themselves have
to be heated. Then, because of the tanks breathing, if the surface area
is too small, as the level drops, ice forms on the outside of the tanks
and the gas quits flowing.

I was in Alaska, right at the tail end of the pipeline boom, and I was
absolutely amazed at the conditions those folks worked and succeeded
under.

I have often wondered about the heating requirements on building sites.
Here
they often work even into the winter under tents or tarpaulins even
including pouring cement! They run these huge heaters at what has to be
ridiculous cost however winter contracts are often cheaper because there
is
so much less competition for builders. They probably work for little
profit
just to keep good workers employed and available for the spring. They
are
often heating an area while erecting steel and I have observed
temperatures
well below minus 40. Often they are lighting too with days here under
eight
hours of sunlight and I understand in the Yukon and parts of Alaska
little
or no daylight hours at all. Of course up there building costs are
outrageous anyway because of the cost of transportation and they have to

bring everything in.

I couldn't debate your figures at all I just don't know. I am aware
though
that just as soon as they make any sort of supplemental heating
appliance to
be a decent piece of furniture the price goes crazy! Much of it hardly
gets
used but it does need to look good even when not in use.

Your room is quite a bit smaller than the thousand square feet they
claim so
you will probably find it does the job required.

After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet
 of
copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace was
no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat
stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room.

Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed a
company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones
 had
 a
number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause a
fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide or

And, most importantly, infrared heat does not reach a burning temperature.

 Once
the heat exchanger absorbs the infrared heat, it exhales the heat into the
living area which is carried by the existing humidity in the air. This
causes the heat to travel rapidly and evenly throughout a room. In actual
 studies,
photos using infrared lighting demonstrated that the heat was almost
perfectly even from floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall. The EdenPURE Quartz
 Infrared
efficiency is based on the distribution of energized air, not on just fan
movement. This heat is coined as soft heat due to how comfortable it is.

This dry irritating heat and lack of oxygen dries out sinuses and mucus in
the throat, and makes people susceptible to disease.

This heat not
 only
heats the air, but it also heats the objects in the room. It is a
 perfectly
 balanced heat.

 Q. How can a person cut their heating bill by up to 50% with the EdenPURE?

 A. First, the EdenPURE uses less energy to create

that heat at combustion level, which is what all other heat sources use,
 causes
the heat to instantly rise to the ceiling.

As a matter of fact, pets are actually
 drawn
to this heat because it is a natural source of heat

There is at least one other manufacturer of quartz home space heaters. We
just ordered a Sun Twin which is a 1500 watt unit with oak Vanier cabinet.
It retails for about $550 but we bought our for $450 on EBay. If there's
any interest I can post after we use it some.

We were deciding between the Sun Twin and a unit produced by Solar Cloud.
The Solar Cloud heater used infrared bulbs instead of the quartz. As I
researched I couldn't find much that would say the quartz is superior to the
infrared. I did find that quartz heaters have a lot of industrial uses.

I have one of these and will have to look up the information on where I got
it from, but it does heat 1000 sqf.
You must have it by an indoor wall not an outside wall and put it on carpet
as on cement the cement will absorb and not let it heat properly so my
instructions said. I used it a little last year and it did great. I have not
used it enough to tell if this will help be cost effective or not.

Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Quartz Infrared Heaters

I find the hype on this device a little hard to read.

The temperature of a room or any space is a function of how fast and far
 the
molecules of air are moving. This takes a fixed amount of energy. The
structure of the building, the furniture and other contents of the space
 all
are made up of molecules which vibrate and the faster and further they
 move,
 the hotter things will be.

Now electricity moves through a conductor more or less at the speed of
light. When it meets resistance it gives off energy. Typically energy is
released as sound, various forms of electromagnetic radiation such as
 light,
heat, magnetism often used to perform movement.

Heating with electricity is pretty efficient because the electricity can
 be
converted directly into various forms of heat. The electromagnetic
 radiation
can be pretty well at any point along the range from very long waves such
 as
long wave radio, up through short wave, UHF, VHF, Microwaves, the spectrum
of infrared into the light range and beyond ultraviolet through x-rays up
 through gamma and alpha radiation.

Water absorbs radio frequency radiation pretty well but it takes some
circuitry to produce that sort of energy. Short waves have been used for a
very long time for therapeutic heat and in the operating room for
cauterizing for example. Shorter radio waves in what is now known as the
microwave range are used to efficiently heat water in foods as in cooking
although that was not the original purpose, it was discovered in the '40s
 as
a side effect of radar radiation, it was not until the invention of the
magnetron tube by, I believe the British that it was possible to reliably
produce radio frequency wave lengths in that range. We could heat
 ourselves
fairly efficiently with microwaves if we were willing to sit in the
 directed
beam of a device but the room around us would not warm and there are other

It is
mostly the infrared we feel in the sun, why we can feel heat through a
 glass
window while the window does not get warm.

Some of you will be familiar with those radiant heaters which glow red and
when the reflector concentrates the light at you, you get warm even if
 surrounding you is cool.

For these to actually heat a room the infrared has to be absorbed by
something then that heat transferred to the air by convection or
 conduction.
Air, coming into contact with such a substance will become excited, the
molecules will jump about more and it warms up.

So, an infrared heater may warm you up or parts of your room up,
 eventually
the entire room by shining on stuff and being absorbed causing the
 molecules
of that stuff, be it you or a table to begin jumping about and causing air
in contact with that stuff to get excited too.

Inside a heater, the infrared bulbs radiate this low red light which is
absorbed by some or other material which in turn gets hot and excites air
 in
it's vicinity warming that air which will be moved or circulated either by
convection or with a fan to warm more air and so on.

Now here is the thing! You can heat oil inside of a panel directly with an
element and as that panel heats up it will radiate some infrared and it
 will
warm up air touching it through conduction which will then rise and heat
 air
it contacts through convection. Either way, 1500 watts of electricity will
convert into a fixed amount of heat, some methods will be a little more
direct than others but the efficiency now is pretty well defined.

You can put ten kilowatts into a brick and the brick will cool over some
period of time but that isn't free energy as it cools, you put in a lot of
energy to raise the temperature of that mass so it takes some time for
 that
energy to defuse. The same ten kilowatts applied more slowly over a longer
period of time will keep you as warm.

Now there may be many reasons to purchase one particular type of electric
heater but these days the efficiency

RE: [BlindHandyMan] Quartz Infrared Heaters

2006-10-13 Thread William Stephan
Ed:
I just bought an infrared heater to heat a three-seasons room. Mine's a
Suncloud, not quartz. It has four 675 watt (I think) infrared bulbs mounted
below a heat exchanger with a small fan. Since the thing draws 1,500 watts,
it's only rated at like 5,300 BTUs or so, but the manufacturer claims that the
combination of the special heat exchanger and the fact that it's infrared
cause it to deliver that amount of heat very efficiently.

We had the thing on last evening, and we got down to just about freezing. It
kept the room very comfortable at that temperature, and didn't run continuously.

I don't know how it'll do when it's zero, but it's a lot better than either the
fan-forced heater I have or the oil-filled one we used last year, which
incidentally died right at the end of the season despite being new.

The only bad thing about this is the cost. I paid like $530.00 for the thing.
The unit I bought and the bulbs are guaranteed for three years.

Anybody know if you can use a light probe to check infrared bulbs?

Good luck Ed.

to another room, it will quickly heat that room also. This can
drastically
cut heating bills, in some instances, by up to 50%.

Q. I also understand that the EdenPURE produces clean fresh air without
furnace filters. How can it do that?

A. A furnace generates a lot of dust due to the combustion. By lowering the
furnace temperature, you are using your furnace less and therefore reducing
the requirement for the furnace filters. Also, when there's no combustion,
there are no harmful fumes.

Q. So, the EdenPURE is totally safe to use?

A. It absolutely is. The EdenPURE has zero clearance, which means you can
push it up against the wall or furniture without risk of fire. Tests prove
the
unit does not transmit any energy into the atmosphere that will burn or harm
anyone regardless of distance between the person and the EdenPURE. The
EdenPURE
can be put next to flammable materials with no safety clearance needed.

The EdenPURE will pay for itself in weeks. It will put a great deal of extra
money in a users pocket. Because of today's spiraling gas, oil, propane, and
other energy costs, the EdenPURE will provide even greater savings as the
time goes by. The EdenPURE Model 500 can comfortably heat a room up to 300
square
feet and the EdenPURE Model 1000 can comfortably heat a room up to 1,000
square feet.

  Hi Ed
This is what I found out about the heater
  Q. What is the origin of this amazing heating element in the EdenPURET
  Heater?
  A. This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a man named
John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to heat. Jones
had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured copper
near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that goes
  through
an extensive heating process to give it special properties.

  EdenPURET Quartz Infrared Portable Heater

After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet of
copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace was
no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat
stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room.

Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed a
company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones had
  a
number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause a
fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide or
  radiation.
He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long story short,
through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a heating
source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes.

  Q. What advantages does infrared quartz tube heating source have over other
  heating source products?

  A. John Jones designed his heating source around the three most important
consumer benefits: economy, comfort, and safety. The final development of
  this
infrared quartz heat source cannot be matched by any other heating system in
the world. In the EdenPURE system, electricity is used to generate infrared
light which, in turn, creates a very safe heat. Infrared is the safest form
of heat because it does not create carbon monoxide or harmful radiation.

And, most importantly, infrared heat does not reach a burning temperature.
After a great deal of research and development, very efficient infrared heat
chambers were developed that utilize three unique patented solid copper heat
exchangers in one EdenPURE Heater. Over 5 years of research, development and
real life field testing stand behind this heat source. It has now worked in
residential and commercial applications worldwide for over 25 years.

  Q. Why is it that this quartz infrared heating source uses less energy to
  create heat than other sources?

  A. Actually, there is more than one reason. One of the primary reasons is
that heat at combustion level, which is what all other heat sources use,
  causes
the heat to instantly rise to the ceiling. Therefore, the heat is not evenly
distributed, causing a very inefficient and uncomfortable heat source.

The EdenPURE Quartz Infrared Portable Heater does not use burning heat. Once
the heat exchanger absorbs the infrared heat, it exhales the heat into the
living area which is carried by the existing humidity in the air. This
causes the heat to travel rapidly and evenly throughout a room. In actual
  studies,
photos using infrared lighting demonstrated that the heat was almost
perfectly even from floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall. The EdenPURE Quartz
  Infrared
efficiency is based on the distribution of energized air, not on just fan
movement. This heat is coined as soft heat due to how comfortable it is.

  Q. What are the other disadvantages of combustion heat sources?

  A. Heat sources that are above the burning level have many unhealthy side
effects. One of these is that it creates dry, irritating indoor air. It also
  burns
a great deal of oxygen in the air. If you remember, when you sit in front of
a fireplace or a portable heater or close to a heat source, you will
  remember
yawning. This is because you are not getting enough oxygen.

This dry irritating heat and lack of oxygen dries out sinuses and mucus in
the throat, and makes people susceptible to disease. The lack of oxygen
  causes
fatigue. Also, many combustible heat sources produce carbon monoxide, static
  cling, and some produce radiation.

  Q. So you're saying that children or pets can come up to this unit and touch
  it and not be harmed?

  A. That is absolutely correct. As a matter of fact, pets are actually drawn
to this heat because it is a natural source of heat, just like the sun heats
the earth. Animals are much more instinctive than humans. This heat not only
heats the air, but it also heats the objects in the room

You can see infra red with a light probe, it is actually more efficient in that
part of the spectrum.

Q. How can a person cut their heating bill by up to 50% with the EdenPURE?

but that is just part of why
