Re: [BlindHandyMan] safety tips for burning wood and more
Lee, don't kid your self, most sighted people wouldn't have the slightest idea what goes out the chimney and wouldn't know what to do about it if they did. I doubt most wild fires are started by embers from proper chimneys, more likely from lightning, cigaret buts, or campfires left unattended or not properly put out. i'd bet a blind camper could properly put out a camp fire as well as anybody. tom Net-Tamer V 1.13 Beta - Registered To listen to the show archives go to link http://acbradio.org/handyman.html or ftp://ftp.acbradio.org/acbradio-archives/handyman/ The Pod Cast address for the Blind Handy Man Show is. http://www.acbradio.org/news/xml/podcast.php?pgm=saturday The Pod Cast address for the Cooking In The Dark Show is. http://www.gcast.com/u/cookingindark/main.xml Visit The New Blind Handy Man Files Page To Review Contributions From Various List Members At The Following Address: http://www.jaws-users.com/handyman/ Visit the new archives page at the following address http://www.mail-archive.com/blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com/ For a complete list of email commands pertaining to the Blind Handy Man list just send a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo! [BlindHandyMan] safety tips for burning wood and more
Just had one of those brain vibrations as I was thinking of what Brice said not being able to have a fireplace that burns wood. well now thinking of all the forest fires burning around the country it makes total sense. lets face it most of us on the list are blind and how would you know if a burning ember floated off into the sky and to some nearby brush ? I think of another blind Friend in Wyoming who has smoke from any one of three forest fires filling her lungs. For years as a blind person I operated my own wood stove , but now that I think of it, I had no clue what was going out the chimney at any given time. Yes every 2 years we hired a chimney sweep to professionaly clean the main chimney out but , also we do not live in an area that is prone to brush and forest fires.
