I'm all registered with VIP for the new blind handyman chat
room but when I go to install the required talk client, I
get the following error message.

EInOutError: Invalid filename
Input file name is vcomcfg2.JCF.
Output file name is C:\Documents and Settings\Alan
Robbins\Application Data\Free

Anyone experienced this and if so what did you do?

I would suggest that you write the help desk at vipconduit.  Those folks 
are pretty helpful.
