[board-discuss] domain names

2012-08-20 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

I'm currently in the process of transferring all those domain names
people kept for TDF (thanks again!) before we were fully able to put
them in our portfolio.

Unfortunately, for some countries, you need a local residence in order
to be eligible for registering a domain name. While for some countries,
our registrar provides a trustee agreement, for other countries, this
simply does not exist, so TDF cannot legally transfer those domains.

If nobody objects, I would not demand a fully-fledged agreement, but
only draft a short text that people keep the domain names on behalf of
TDF and we cover costs (up to XYZ €). Whenever TDF is able to transfer
them, the current holder agrees to transfer them over to us.

If you have objections, raise them now - otherwise I'll go on like
described. :)

[board-discuss] Status quo on MC candidacies

2012-08-20 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

this is a short status quo on the MC candidacies. Right now, we have
received the following candidacies, in order of receipt:

- David Emmerich Jourdain
- Sophie Gautier
- Fridrich Štrba
- Simon Phipps
- Leif Lodahl

If you don't see your name on this list, but have sent in your
candidacy, please let us know as soon as possible!

Per the Board's decision, [1] the new membership committee shall consist
of a total of seven (7) members, five (5) seat holders plus two (2)
deputies.

Members of The Document Foundation as of 2012-07-01 are eligible to
vote in the elections. Candidacies must be announced
prior to 2012-09-02, 23:59 UTC. [2]

I'd like to explicitly motivate all previous MC seat holders and
deputies to apply again. Your stepping back made a member-elected MC
possible, and all of you are invited to apply again for a seat.

Florian

[board-discuss] Nomination for Membership Committee

2012-08-20 Thread Jean Weber
I nominate myself for the Membership Committee.

My primary participation in TDF has been with the Documentation Team,
which elected me as Team Leader earlier this year. I also participate
in marketing (both the list and through promotional activities at
conferences).

I was an active member of the former OpenOffice.org project from 2004
until 2010, where I did more direct user support as well as
documentation.

I am not employed by any company or organisation, although I do serve
as Secretary/Treasurer of an Australia-based not-for-profit community
association, Friends of OpenDocument, Inc. I am also a member of other
organisations, including the Open Source Initiative.

Regards,
Jean Hollis Weber
